Week 11 in the NFL - Not too surprising

Saw a few games while painting rooms and putting up closet doors and trim.

Cowboys won but I wouldn't say they did well. But then again, like I said before, it doesn't matter how good or bad either the 'boys or the 'skins are doing in any year. Every time they meet the game can go either way and it's usually pretty ugly. Dallas' defense is playing quite well and limited the Redskins to two field goals. If only the offense could actually score! Garrett's to blame IMO. He didn't use the run at all last week and got burned on the field and in the media for it. So the first two drives he does the run exclusively save for one throw for a 1st down. Does the guy understand what moderation means? The most successful wins they have had this season came when they split the run/pass 50/50. It's too late in the season to be experimenting. Start using your team and exploiting the depth. Your injured D is keeping you afloat ya dunce!

Gotta hand to it to the Redskins though. The clear problem with that team is Mr. Campbell. The defense is just as brutal, effective and punishing as any in the league. But if your offense can't put up the numbers, you don't win games. If you can't score a touchdown, you're not going to win.

I didn't think Dallas would be tops in the NFC East though. Not the way they have been playing.

Eagles...man, WTF? The offense was good but the defense, how did they give up so much? That wasn't the Eagles that we have been seeing early in the season. They didn't look like a shambles but they didn't look like they had showed up to practice last week. The more I see of Vick though, the more I think he's the way of the future. Put McNabb out to pasture and let the guy play. He reminds me of Randall Cunningham at times with how fast he can scoot out of the pocket and make something happen. Chicago though, they played a good game. They were outclassed on defense but they still managed to take the game down to the wire. Philly shouldn't have had to win it that way and I think the Bears deserved to win the game but got beat by luck. I think the Bears just played a better game. Just wish Cutler would be a more effective leader.

Last game I saw and admittedly not all of it, was Giants and Falcons. Oh the fall from grace that is the Giants! They won, yes, but again, Atlanta took the G-men for a ride. They played very well but the Giants just had that much more in them. NY is still in the playoff hunt for the Wild Card but there are many other teams playing much better than they are and still in the hunt as well. Then again, The Cowboys are coming up on their deadly December where they blow it completely so there is still a serious hope for the G-men. Especially if Philly implodes against some dangerous teams in the next few weeks.

Things I think about this next week:
1. Thanksgiving games are gonna suck. Dallas is on tap to lose to Oakland (we all know they will. The dewshbags will blow it), Green Bay is playing the Lions at Detroit in the Turkey Day classic but the only interesting game will be the G-men at Denver and it's gonna be on the NFL network. BOOOOOO!

2.) I think, sadly, the Saints undefeated streak ends on Monday. I wish it wasn't so because the rest of their schedule they can stomp all over with glee. But they have been shaky lately and you can't play a shaky game against the likes of Tom Brady because he will burn you. Hopefully they can put this one away and they will be on the way to a 16-0 season.

3.) I think Indy is out of the woods on the undefeated season. I think they are going 16-0. The schedule, while not cake or a walk in the park is light. They are at the Texans next week and then home against the Titans and then the Broncos. Then they are at the Jaguars then home against against the Jets and then finish the season at Buffalo. Some of those teams are dangerous but for the most part, Indy is the better team.

4.) I think that Philly, due to the way they have been playing, has one of the toughest next 6 games in the entire league. There is a very good chance that Philly could come away with an even season or even a losing season.

5.) I think Dallas' mini-bye after the turkey day debacle will be a much needed break. They are beat up and dealing with injuries on both sides of the line.

It's going to be an interesting end of the season!

So how'd your team do?

Oh and how 'bout dem Chiefs? That was a fine bit of coaching/game calling done against the Steelers!

Pats vs. Saints...will define who the Saints are one way or another. Although New England even with a less than stellar cast can stay with ANYONE in the league...they haven't had the 'consistency' of old. For example...the old teams would not have let the Colts take that last game by 1 point. It would've been down to the wire and Brady for the go ahead.

I don't know much about the Saints but if they have a 'respectable' performance against the Pats...and that doesn't necessarily mean a 'win'--just stay 'close' then they will have a great chance to make it to the big game.

As for the Colts...they're good but they're not the N.E. team that went 18-0 before slipping up against a Giants team that did not look that much better than them in that Superbowl...clutch catches and a near miracle was necessary for the Giants to win what was arguably one of the worst played games of that season for the Pats....go figure!

Personally as an transplanted Eagles fan who now lives in New England...I wait 'patiently' each season for a Superbowl win! I feel a lot like Red Sox fans did before '04

What, MY THREAD not good enough for ya? :D

Actually, it looks like you and I were writing ours at the same time, mine was just posted a few minutes ahead of yours.. I looked for yours first and when I didn't see it decided I'd get it started up this week in case you weren't around.

Here's my post from that thread...

The stupid Cowboy game was on at the same time as the Colts game on CBS, so that one didn't air here. I did find a cool website where you can watch pretty much any NFL game, so I did get to watch my Colts play, although not in HD.

That Colts v Ravens was a great game. The Colts weren't very impressive on offense, especially in the second half, but they managed to get the job done. Baltimore walked up and down the field on them, but the Colts had some impressive defensive stands inside their own 30 to keep the Ravens out of the endzone the entire game, that stand right on the 1 yard line was impressive! I still don't think they're playing at a level that's going to get them to the big game, but at least they still have a few games left to work out the kinks.

How did the Cowpokes only beat the Redskins by 1 point? Granted it's a win for Dallas, but isn't Washington a pretty bad team? The good news for Dallas fans is that you're going to get to watch them put on a clinic this Thursday, when they get to play the lowly Raiders. Do you even start your first team for that game?

I won't say the Giants are back, but they looked better on offense yesterday. But man, what has happened to their defense?

Minesota had a nice practice session up in Seattle. That Brett Fav-ra can apparently still toss the ball around.

I was hoping to see the 49ers to step up this year, and they have improved, but that first half against Green Bay was bad.

The Broncos are done, San Diego should wrap up that division, I sure hope the Colts don't see them in the playoffs again this year.

Cinci...how do you loose to the Raiders? I didn't see the game, but that's gotta be some bad football...

It looks like the 'bad' call from Belichick last week wasn't the demise of the Patriots as an organization like everyone was making it sound...the game with the Jets was never really even close.

The last play of the Detroit game was great - you'd be hearing alot more about it if it wasn't the Lions playing the Browns. I'd say that's a gutsy move by Stafford!

Pittsburgh looses to the Chiefs, how the hell does THAT happen?

This just in, the Bucs are not very good...

I will add that the Titans look like a completely different team with Vince Young in. Does he play defense as well, because they're looking good on that side of the ball as well? :D

Isnt that a big rivalry? Rivaly games usually play a lot different than normal games.

I'd rather be 0-10 than have vince young in...but I doubt theyre getting rid of him anytime soon so I guess I'm just going to have to get used to it.

Here are some observations from the Bears game Sunday night:
    1. Hunter Hillenmeyer (replaced Urlacher) sucks. The Eagles went at him all night.
    2. Orlando Pace is old and lazy - launch him after this year. Draft a stud left tackle next year, or pick one up one via free agency. The entire O-line has been disappointing all year, and it shows in the running stats...which leads to #3 below:
    3. Cutler needs to relax and cannot carry the whole offense with no running game. Few QBs can. Also, can the GD Bears get a QB coach who knows what they are doing...which is eveidenced by the number of QBs the Bears have gone thru over the past 20 years. There is no statistical way possible all those QBs before Cutler just happened to be complete busts on their own.
    4. 3rd down efficiency if the MOST IMPORTANT DEFENSIVE STAT....even above points allowed. I don't care how good a Def. is...if they cannot get off the field, and stay off the field, they will wear down and allow points.
    5. Does anyone know where Devin Hester went???

Oh well, I am done venting. Have a good Turkey Day...

Good point on the rivaly game, I sure hope Dallas puts the hurt on Oakland on Thursday or Monday at work is going to be miserable...

Wow, you hate the guy so much that you'd rather have a losing team? That's saying alot...

Not sure, but he sure showed his **** at the end of the game...literally. Funniest thing I have seen on live TV in a long time. My wife was rolling.

Go Cowboys! Let's hope they show up this week against the Raiders since the offense has taken the past two weeks off against the Pack and Redskins. They should be fresh and ready to go!!!
I know just enough to be dangerous, but don't tell my wife, she thinks I'm a genius. :D

I don't like him either, but he saved the damn game last night. It's hard to defend against a QB that can scramble for first downs at will.
He's easily rattled though. Unless he calms down, a good pass-rush defense is going to kill him.
