Matching surrounds for RTi-A9s

Yewwo :)

I'm trying to determine whether or not the TSi200s will match up to my A9s and a CSiA6 decently. I listened to the F/X series and was duly unimpressed with them as surrounds. Maybe as presence speakers, but definitely not surrounds.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. :)

But were the FXi's you listened to properly calibrated? Were they level matched to the rest of the speakers?
What was it about them that you didn't like?

I had trouble localizing them sonically. I know speakers are supposed to blend in with each other, but it just felt too "spacey" too me. I've noticed this with a lot of bipolar speakers actually.

FXi's operate in either di-pole or bi-pole modes. The one's you listened to may have been in Bi-pole mode.
In Bi-pole mode, the surround effects will be diffuse and difficult to localize.
In Di-pole mode they will be more direct.

    Not to derail the thread...

But is there any kind of a purpose to running FXi's if you're running them in dipole? Would running FXiA6's in dipole mode be any different from running a pair of RTiA3's?

I'm running RTi6's(old version of RTiA3) as surrounds with my RTi8's up front. They do a fantastic job.

when running the a6's in dipole there is still sound coming from the other tweeter, which in my case directly faces the bar area - perfect speekers for my setup. have them set to large and they sound amazing from anywhere in the room

If that's the case, then what is even the difference between bipole and dipole modes?

I've only had the fxi's a few days but from what I've heard so far, dipole mode blends the sound a bit more equally to both sides of the speeker as where bipole the sound is directed more the the driver side. either way there is still sound coming from both sides of the speeker.

Would RTi A3's sounds 'better' than Monitor 60's with the same setup? (9's and a CSi A6)
