Vinyl - Spinning Ray Conniff and Billy Vaughn after over 30 years...

Music that I grew up with, from the 70s. I just cleaned a couple of them and listening in to Ray Conniff - I Love How You Love Me, and Billy Vaughn - A set of Standards. My dad bought these in the late 60s and he passed away early this year. This is the first time I played these albums (after cleaning them throughly). Music that he used to love, sitting with us around the good ole' Telefunken console that he paid with his savings (it was a piece of furniture) when I was barely 4 years. These LPs were played so often back then by us (kids) that it creates a memory timeline in itself.

Can't help myself not to think about him and cherished those memories. He had a wonderful life. RIP Dad!
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Thanks for reading my post. Yeah, it was hard not to get a bit overwhelmed sometimes. He was 84 and had his 85 birthday last month.

These LPs were definitely cheesy elevator kind of music, but they were big back then, way before RAP was invented. :)

Polkatese - glad you are enjoying your albums! There are certain albums, such as some I have by Frank Sinatra, that transport me back to earlier days and sometimes I can even smell my grandmother's kitchen. Enjoy!

My dad had quite a vinyl collection. From straight-ahead jazz to light rock. There was no disputing his favorite lp though. While I never heard him play it, cleaning his house out I must've found 10 OPENED copies of the ultra-cheesy Soul of Spain/101 Strings.

Thanks for the memory share Frances. My dad had a Sears Silvertone console. The speakers made an awful crackling noise if you bumped it.:D

Love the old stuff. Nice memories. It was an art to know which tube to wiggle to get the old players to work.

    Frances,

Thanks for sharing your experiences with the old vinyl and memories of your father. My parents had an old Magnavox console with a TT that had a lot of bass. It was a nice living room piece with that 60's look.

Sorry to hear this news about your father. Mine passed when he was 74, he also would have been 85 last month. All my best!
    Carl

Yeah, that brings back memories for me as well. My dad passed just a year ago and whenever I play some of the music that I got from his collection, the memories and feelings come pouring back.

    Thanks
