Any opinions out there on what polk in-ceiling speakers to use with a 14ft high ceiling? I'd like install a total of 4 speakers (2 surround, 2 rear surround). My A/V Receiver is a Sony STR-DH800. front speakers and sub-woofer are already taken care of.

Thanks!

That seems too high for practical apps. for theater sound. Ambiant sound yes but..

There's just no way to mount inwalls in your walls at or near ear level?

Oh I don't know, 14' is far but not that far. Where talking what, 10' from ear level?? If they get calibrated right, all the speaker levels should be equal, so I would think it should be fine. The majority of HT sound comes from the front stage anyway. Actually now that I think about it, my front speaker stage is about 14+ feet from me and properly amped, they knock my socks off. Oh yeah and at least one of my surrounds is about 10-11' from my ears - I notice nothing lacking.

I'd definitely look into the in-wall options first to keep the speakers at a more ideal position, but if your layout is anything like mine--options are limited..

    10/4 mmadden.
I see so many regular setups. I guess with calibrations you could get equal volumes all around in that situation.;)

    Front L/R are Polk RT8001
Front Center is a Bose VCS-10
Sub woofer is a Mitsubishi MSUB-12 (12 years old and still going strong)

Because of the configuration of the walls, in wall configuration isn't practical, so ceiling mount is the best way to go.
