Xbox 360: how much does hard drive improve game load times?

I just bought an Xbox 360 Arcade and Forza 3.
Game load times and loading of new tracks seems quite sluggish.
How much faster is game load and new track load if I get an Xbox hard drive and install the game on that?

Ha, I just did a search on this this am. The answer is it's really negligible.
The results I saw showed in the tenths of seconds or as much as 2 seconds over a 45 second period. There were some exceptions.
Others might have personal experiences they'd share but overall seems more that it saves the drive from being noisy or getting heated.Analog Source: Rega P3-24 Exact 2 w/GT delrin platter & Neo TT-PSU Digital Source: Lumin T2 w/Roon (NUC) DAC: Denafrips Pontus II Phono Preamp: Rega Aria MK3 Preamp: Rogue RP-7 Amp: Pass X150.8 Speakers: Joseph Audio Perspective 2, Audio Physic Tempo Plus Cables: Morrow M4 ICs & Audio Art SC-5 ePlus, Shunyata PCs Misc: Shunyata Hydra Delta D6, VTI rack, GIK acoustic panels -
Does it make a significant difference when the game moves you to a new track?
(I can deal with slow initial load times, but those lags when they move you to a new track are annoying). -
its probably much quieter, at least. My Iron Man training/charity blog.

mshan242700 how would you rate forza 3 with gt5. I know gt5 is not out but im guesing gt5 prologue will give you a good idea on what gt5 is going to be. I spent hundreds of hours playing forza 2 and loved it. This will be the diciding factor on if I buy an xbox or ps3. Thanks for any input.TV: Philips 42" LCD 1080p

Someone very knowledgeable about all of these consoles told me that the Gran Turismo has better graphics, but Forza 3 has better race physics:"Forza 3 and GT5 are going to be about even. GT5 will have more cars and typically slightly better graphics but Forza will have more customization options and typically better physics / tuning. Honestly, you won't be able to go wrong with either one."
Based upon say 1 hour of playing Forza 3 yesterday, I would say I agree.

Keep in mind Gt5 isn't even coming out this year... or not even early next year. The version out now is the $40, very robust, demo. Or prologue as they prefer to call it.My Iron Man training/charity blog.

Loading from the HDD does make a appreciable difference however I would recommend doing for another reason. I find that the 360s optical drive can be load and is also prone to failure after a few years. Loading from the HDD cuts down on drive use as well as noise.
