You'll probably think you bought some new speakers! How far is your couch from the system?

That's a great little setup. I can imagine my poker nights in a room like that :) Must be sweet, some money stealing (on my part) or money giving (The others) on one end, and some awesome movie on in the background - Driving Miss Daisy, whatever...you get the picture!

    Fantastic...I'm jealous!

Oh yea, baby....Driving Miss Daisy or Little Women in full 7.1, uncompressed digital surround sound. LOL!

8-9 feet from ears for the center
10 feet from ears to left and right
That's if you are seated in the middle "reference" seat. (Atleast, that's what I call it! :D

Do your tweaks, sit the woman down in the sweet spot and put on Sarah McLachlan Afterglow Live; she won't remember anything after that.

If you can pull it off, try to get your speaks about 8ft apart.

Mine is very close to your setup, I'm abut 9.5ft from the speakers, they are 8ft apart (on-center), with about a 1/2" of toe-in. The tile will really clean up the bass/midrange, not to mention give you a little more height.

Rush scares most chicks. Live in RIO has some incredible bass out of the gate huh?

Let us know how the tweaks work out, I think you're going to like it big time. Towers need some room to breathe, and you'll be rewarded with an excellent soundstage, more accurate bass, and better imaging.

Here's a pic of my system in place. The speakers are about 30" off the back wall from the front baffle. The area is about 16ft wide, 36ft deep (includes dining room/kitchen--open floor plan). The couch in the foreground is the one that is about 9.5ft away from the system:

I was gonna say that. By all means, if you can spread them some more---you'll love it. Maybe keep the left about 24"-30" off the sidewall, and match the right side. If anything it may help energize the room a bit in the lower bass registers.

Sometimes having the speakers that close to the TV can cause some strange resonant frequencies from the TV's plastic chasis.

That's some good info...I have my RTi10's sitting on either side of my 65" tv almost touching it. Maybe I should think about putting the audio tower by the tv and moving my speakers away a bit?

If you an older fan, the "And All That Could Have Been" DVD is what I would recommend. It's from the Fragility 2.0 tour in 2000-2001. Amazing stuff.

I'm a total fanboy so I have nearly everything ever released. I am only missing a couple rare EP CD's.

Play some music at moderate levels at put your ear against that tv chasis----hear that? Nasty isn't it? That's being added to your sound....try to get your Rti's at least 18" away if possible.

8ft apart, measured from the center of the speakers--9.5ft from the center of the couch. I'm using minimal toe-in, so the "so-called" sweet spot is a couple feet behind the couch. I like the wider soundstage I get with 1/2" of toe in. I'd need 1" toe-in to beam the tweeters directly at the center of the couch.

I'd spread the speakers out more, but I ran out of space due to the 45-degree angle fireplace, so I settled on 8ft. Also the left speaker begins to end-up behind the side of the 2nd couch if moved any further left.

Anyway you could move the sub to the left corner (ideal) and the left speaker about 8" from it? That corner loading would really help your sub dig deep.

Post it up Ryan. Mine is about 16 x 36 so I know your pain. Behind the couch is the open dining room, then a bar that divides the kitchen from the dining room--all open-space.

When I get home i'll take some pics and upload them. Right now I have my couch against the wall, with my tv around 1-2' from the other wall across from me (so around 15' away).

That leaves around 20' of open room to my right, which leads into the kitchen.

same here, mine is pretty darn modest compared to a lot of the setups in the showcase. I'd still like to post my system in there but can't seem to get a good picture of my gear, keeps turning out blurry. I don't have a tripod but been experimenting with different lighting - still blurry
