PSW505 Hook up Questions

I just got my speakers in last night and set them up. Everything is fine so far. I've steped up from an 6 ot 7 year old Sony AVR with some tiny speaker and small sub. I upgraded to a Onkyo 707 and Polk PSW505, Monitor 70s (Front), Monitor 40s (Rear) and the hugest center I've ever seen CS2.

I have it wired like shown below. It was different from my Sony which was wired like the one shown far below. I haven't tried to bi-wire anything and will try that maybe later once I get my sub figured out.

So my question is this: Which setup is better? Should I leave it like how it is now or go with the LFE? Can I still bi-wire with the wired setup as shown below or not? More complicated the way I have it already?

I am no expert but I have the same set up as you basically. I would have to say that using the LFE is the way to go but I have not tried it the more complex way. If you try the LFE give us a report on the difference you hear between the two ways. I understand that it is a complete waste of time and money to bi-wire the monitor speakers unless you plan on using several matched high powered and priced external amps. hope this helps.
    My Setup:
    Front- Polk Monitor 70
    Center- Polk CS2
    Rear - Polk Monitor 70
    Subs - 2 Polk PSW505
    Receiver - Onkyo TX-SR707
    Amp - Emotiva XPA-5
    Zone 2 Speakers - Polk M40
    CD Player - Emotiva ERC-1
    Interconnects - Emo X-Series
    & Emo Ultra speaker cables
    additional components:
    Television - Samsung LN52B750
Gaming Console - Microsoft XBox 360
Media Center - Gaming Computer with Blue Ray Drive

how do you set the TX-SR707 speakers to "small". I haven't found a large small setting on this receiver but it may be there. anyone know?

Top setup uses the crossover built into the sub like xcapri79 said for older avr's that dont have a sub out. Bottom setup uses the crossover built into the avr I tried both with my setup and prefer the LFE way. Also set the fronts to small look in your manual it should tell you how to set this.

Correct me if I am wrong...but I don't think the Onkyo has a small or large setting....you will find in the L/R speaker menu.....the term Full range (that is equivalent to LARGE!). Just don't select that! The rest is determined pretty much by the crossover which should be about 80hz for everything.
