Any PSP owners here? I'm trying to convince myself to buy one. Looks like there are quite a few Strategy RPG titles available I think I'd like.

Looking for other reasons to justify the purchase, I was quite disappointed to see it won't play FLAC files :(

So whaddya think? Worth the money? Wait for PSP2?

I loved my PSP when I had one. Used it extensively during my deployments to Iraq, and on the plane whenever I took trips across the states. Otherwise I never really found myself using it at any other time. Gave it away, but for the time I had it I really enjoyed it.

Also used it to save/view all my pictures/videos/movies saved/mp3's/mpegs whenever I wasn't playing games, and the UMD movies aren't bad at all either.

Ditto, I liked mine a lot too. Got to the point where I didn't have a use for a handheld anymore so I sold it here on the forum.

I bought one a few years ago to use when I travel.(often)
I love the thing. I put videos on it, and play games. I've never bought a UMD movie for it, though, never could see the point in owning yet another format. If there's a movie I want to see, I use Netflix on my laptop.

I'm sure there will come a day when I don't use it anymore, but I don't see it any time soon.:)

I always enjoyed mine as well. Are you looking to pick one up on the used market? I think I've got one with a bunch of games and memory cards if you're interested.

Nah, thanks for the offer though. Thinking about using my $20 amazon credit towards the purchase of one and Jeanne d'arc as my first game.

If your like me and can game for hours you will want to get an external handle to prevent hand cramping. The one I had with mine actually had a battery built in to give more play time, the one in the link below doesnt, but im sure you can find others.

I have a PSP also, pretty much have had it since the launch. I only use it to play games, I think it blows all other handhelds away as far as graphics go. The graphics on the DS are so blocky and pixelated, not sure why it has such a big audience...

There is one thing I don't like and thats the disc access, its a little slow and noisy. The one remedy for that is get a bigger memory card and download the games off of the PSP store, which is what I did this last time with this title:

Brave Story: New Traveler, if your into RPG's at all I highly recommend this one. Also am playing the original Suikoden on it via download also.

I bought an 8 gig card so I have plenty of room now for games....

So yeah, I don't think you'll be dissapointed...

I have one, but I don't play it much. Its great when I do use it though. I really like the integration between it and the PS3. There are some good games out there for it. I say get it if you ride the bus to work, have time to kill between classes. Me? I have a 15 minute drive to work and a kid at home. Not much chance to use the handheld.

How does downloading games from the PSP store work? Do you know if it is tied to your PSN account? Was just wondering if you can re-download it later if something happens to your PSP or memory card.

I like the idea of not having to load the physical media, but its nice to have it as a backup.

Yep, you log into the PS Store, just like on a console. Purchase and download, you'll get a confirmation email for the purchase. Everything is kept track of by PSN. You can re-download as necessary.

I had an original PSP back in the day. The games library pretty much sucked and the lack of a promised Gran Turismo made me trade it for parts for my '65 VW Bug.
Since I sold the bug and they released Gran Turismo (which wasn't worth the wait - fun, but not Gran Turismo at all), I purchased the PSP-3000. I like the option of buying used games (you can't do that with the PSP Go because it can't use UMDs).
Anyway, due to my being laid-up for a couple weeks, I recently purchased MonsterHunter Unite...

It is probably not only the best handheld game I've ever played, but one of the best games I have ever played on any system.

? Harmon Kardon AVR 55 (dead; replacing with Onkyo TX NR-616)
? Polk RTA 11TL's (FR and FL)
? Polk TSi200's (RR and RL)
    ? Polk CS10 (Center)
    ? Polk PSW-350
    ? Grado SR-60i Headphones
    ? Fii0 E5 headphone amp
    ? iPod touch (8 gig)
    ? iPod Classic (80 gig)
? Mac Mini (as media server)
    ? xbox 360

I love mine. I play it at work often....6pm to 6am shifts get kinda long and boring sometimes! ;)

I am looking forward to getting Assasin's Creed that recently came out. And can say without a doubt that Ace Combat X is a highly addictive game! Well if you like flying fighter jets.

If you get one, I highly recommend getting the screen protectors!

I also love, and highly recommend the PSP, it does all the above mentioned stuff, and if you get a 2000 or 3000 model it can even run skype, so you can make phone calls from it at any hot spot! and now that it's been out for awhile, the selection of great used games is huge. Games, music, movies, web browsing (kinda lame with limited memory), phone, it's a pretty handy little doo-dad indeed. I got one when they came out, and each time a new one comes out I give the previous one to my kid, and get the new one. Although I'm not gonna get the PSP Go. I am not so sure I like the "no disc" theory.
