Hello,
I have a question that seems quite basic but with the help from "friends" I have become confussed. I will be hooking up a LCD TV, AVR, DVD/VCR and digital cable receiver
As some of you might know from my other posts I'm new to CP and I appreciate all the info I've gotten so far.
Question. I hopefully soon will be purchasing a new AVR (still Undecided which one) and will be hooking it up myself. So The AVR is the heart of the whole system right? So does the TV cable to the AVR, HDMI to the digital cable reciever, and HDMI to the LCD and TV to DVD? Does that make sense?
Bottom line, Please Help me hook up my stuff...I've fired my friends and looking for new ones!

    Well what cable are you talking about that's coming through the wall?

    Cable box and dvd player will connect to your reciever via i/cs or optical cable, composite, hdmi, depending on what you're using, then reciever to TV to pass the video signal.

    TV <--HDMI--> AVR <--Misc Cables--> Other components

    If we knew what gear and types of cables you were dealing with, we could give you a more specific answer.

    The cable box is a digital converter. So from the cable box, hdmi to the AVR, and hdmi from the AVR to the LCD TV. TV to DVD?
    Thanks,

    Yes.

    DVD can also be connected to the AVR.

    Thats kinda what i thought, but advise from friends over cocktails ended up with me re-wiring the house just to watch TV.
