Monitor 10, Series 2

Hey all,
I have a pair of M10, Series 2's that I bought new in 1991. I have always enjoyed the sound they provide. I use a Carver amp to drive them. I recently had a problem with one of the cross-overs which resulted in a blown tweeter. I found a replacement on eBay that worked great, for a little while.... So I have a couple questions:
1) Can the SL-2500 tweeters be replaced with any other tweeter? (SL-2000) or is there another brand/model # of tweeter that is a good replacement? (And of course, where can I get them?)
2) In the event that I decide to "modernize", what would be a comparable current model set of Polk's to replace the M10's that sound just as good with a wide range of music? I do not use them for A/V...these are strictly audio only. They are sometimes used as the "monitors" in a digital audio workstation for recording music, so I need "clean" sound across the sound spectrum. That's one of the things I love about the M10's.
Thanks for any input/advice anyone may have.
