Congrats! 5 years before a raise:eek:, how long before retirement? Chance for another promotion before retirement? Been a lot of threads regarding the military lately, not many about civil service.
So thank you for your service and all other police, firemen, and medical folks that help protect us.

    Congrats,

You now qualify to use this as your new theme song:
"...She'll make you wish that you didn't exist,
Cause Sargent "D" is coming, and you're on her list..."

Although I don't really care for your cheap jab, I doubt that the Honda Fury is any kind of a performance machine. The swing arm at the back (and yes, it is a swing arm) is too short and causes the riding position to be high. While that big pig of an engine is fuel injected and sits low, the heft of a rider riding that high limits the ability of the motorcycle to lean. With a 38 degree rake on a 3.5" trail, a typical Honda sport bike this is not. It won't be any easier to handle at low speeds than your average Harley and with the high riding position, it won't be a high speed corner carver either.

The tank, seat and handle bars are a bit different but this is the same idea:

    nv135789_0_400.jpg

That's an OCC Greenie which is based on what looks like a classic Harley hardtail with a bobber. The Honda is smoother but when I first saw it, my first thought was a Harley softail chopper, even if it did look a bit off in its proportions. Not a Honda though. I didn't even think it was something else until I saw the odd looking valve train cover. Then I realized the picture name said "Honda Fury".

The Honda looks stubby because the swing arm is short. Stretch the frame 3 inches and the seat will sit lower and the rake will look more pronounced without actually being more pronounced.

    Like this:
    2005-HarleyDavidson-SoftailStandard-FXST.jpg

There is only a 2 degree difference between the Harley and the Honda but the Harley looks much more pronounced and it's not even a "chopper".

But hey, it's wingnut's money and her celebration. If she wants the Honda, more power to her! I hear alot of positive things from women about the Honda and the other Japanese bikes looking to mimic that look. They like the shorter wheel base and more upright stance because the smaller frames of their physical bodies can reach things easier. Not to say Darla's short but a 6 foot 4 inch guy on a Harley has a much easier time reaching all the levers, handles and dials than a 5 foot 7 girl (or guy for that matter).

But I digress. No need to turn this into some lame pissing contest.

And yes Darla, still looks like a Harley! ;):p

Don't let that atrocity stop you though!

I don't know yet. Depends on when they pull from the list and where there is an opening. The county provides us ammo.
