Hey guys, found a pair of these locally, was wondering if you could tell me anything about em? Also, what would be a fair price for em? Doesn't seem like this particular speaker pops up very often.

As gdb confirms above those are MONITOR 12s.

Don't see too many around...a mint pair of 10s might go for 150-200. So I'd say somewhere near the high end of that range or maybe a bit more! Just a ballpark guess. Maybe someone who owns a pair can tell us what he/she paid!

    Anyone!

If they were in prefect condition that might be a reasonable price....otherwise I'd think it might be a tad high...after all these are not SDAs, but they might have the SL2500 tweeter which is better than the SL2000.

I wonder if they sound good....

Don't know about the sound but, they almost look like a shortened version of my SRS2s, which do not sound bloated. I say if you can hear them first, and they sound good.......Buy Em !! (for a little $$ as possible of course!):D

I have a pair of Monitor 10, Series 2's, bought in 1991. I auditioned a pair of M12, Series 2's at the time. Using the same CD on both, the 12's had a fuller low/mid range while the highs seemed about the same. If I would've had the extra money to get the 12's, I would've. They were an impressive pair, but I've been more than happy with the 10's over the years. I would've paid almost 1,200 for the pair of 12's. I DID pay just under 900 for the 10's.

I had a pair of pristine M12 S2 that I paid $175 last year. I liked them but ultimately went to SDA-1Cs.

If you get them add some RDO-198s.

There is a link here somewhere that guy from down under posted the measurements for the factory stands which give them a little tilt back. I like the sound improvement when I made mine.

I bet spikes would be a nice upgrade as well.

I used to lust after those speakers, they certainly are attractive. Never heard them though. There's a couple people weighing in with their opinions in this thread.
