Rotel rsx-1067 not staying on? whats wrong and what to replace with if needed.?

My bro has a 7.1 home theater room and his receiver is acting up its a rotel rsx1067.....he says as soon as he turns it on it "clicks" right off and if he unplugs it from the wall and then turns it on it will stay on for about 45 seconds and click off and then will instantly turn off if u try again..


any idea what the problem is?


what can he get to replace it...I was telling him about my onkyo 806 and he likes it but I dont know if that will compare to tthis high end rotel.....

    I'm not a Rotel guy, but have him check the power cable and insure its fully seated. I would also suggest he check speaker cables and the like and make sure nothing is touching or causing a short across terminals. That would be a good place to start. I think Mantis is a Rotel guy, some others may chime in also.

    Check all connection's as already suggested. If the problem still persist's it may be a PSU/transformer issue?

    he unplugged everything and tried just having it stay on with NOTHING connected...it would stay on for a bit then shut off and then shut off right away if tried to turn back on...

    he is gonna sell it as broken and get something else...im sure he can still get a decent amount of money for it...i was thinking at least $300 and someone can fix it.
