I have a shot to pick up a set of B&W 801 not sure but it looks like series 2. I don't know exactly how to tell the series 1 from the 2 apart though.

Anyway any thoughts if they are worth picking up? Vs my 1.2s? What speaker would win with this shootout?

Those are very different sounding speakers. If you like the sound of your SDA's, you will not like B&W's.

Thanks for that. I have heard some people love it, and some people call it "dry" sounding but, it seems to be a fave or used to be with studios..

I might just go take a listen since they are local and see what the craze is on them I have heard the 2009 diamond B&W driven by a McIntosh Tube pre and tube amp. I did like it but, it was a bit mellow laid back sounding to me. Could be I am just getting too used to the SDA effect also.

Take a listen for sure. I heard a set of B&W floor standers driven by lots of Mac gear that was less than impressive to me.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
