Hello polksters,
I am looking at a pair of SDA 1 signature model seller wants 200.00 for the pair. all is original SL 1000 tweeters and other drivers no interconnect cable. I do have a pair of SDA2b's that i have the cable for and from a qiuck look it appears they share the same blade/blade connection. These are fused and have no fuses the tweeter and mid-woofer's are fused and they have some of the cheapest set of binding post i ever seen on a polk speaker. Does any one have any info on these, ohm rating, freq.rating and so on? and what tweeters other have updated to on this model? does Polk still sell the cable or should i just make another set of post to run a cable to? I talked to Polk rep and he recommended RDO198 2500/3000 hybred or something to that effect would i need to change something on the X-over to use these tweets?
thanks
Ivan

I'd stick with the 2B's myself.
The replacement tweeter for the 1A would be the RD0-194.The nirvana inducer-
APC H10 Power Conditioner
Marantz UD5005 universal player
Parasound Halo P5 preamp
Parasound HCA-1200II power amp
PolkAudio LSi9's/PolkAudio SDA 2A's/PolkAudio Monitor 7A's
Audioquest Speaker Cables and IC's -
these are SDA-1 not 1A They have the two tweeters in the upper left and right corners. Gave them a listen to today and even with the BRIGHT sl 1000 tweeters they sound much fuller than my 2B's
According to Polk the signature SDA 1's were not a high volume speaker and were more tweaked than the run of the mill SDA1 so I don't know that's why I'm asking for more info. -
i will need a TON of help to rebuild what i found upon further inspection. I know these were built in the last part of 83 or first part of 84 speaker cabinet says 11/83 and all but one woofer has a date of 12/83 the dimensional woofers have a date of 94 it's a 6501 all the rest are 6600's.
What i found is someone has tried to make all woofers and tweeter work without the SDA cable by hacking wires and then running in parallel the tweeters and top two woofers. What's left of the dimensional wires are as follows in the left speaker 1 dark blue and 1 white twisted and 1 light blue and 1 white twisted together which pair go to what driver? In the Right the dimensional network has 2 Lt. Blue wires and 2 white wires with one larger than any of the other 3. On the lower L.F. drivers this seems weird it does not look to have been touched since leaving the factory but I've just never seen it...coming off the speaker inputs are wires that go to the stereo crossover and wires going directly to the L.F. drivers bypassing the crossover completely. The glue doesn't look to ever have been touched as it is all the same color and all smooth no hint of being cut to attach a wire. In my box there is one thing different that the SDA1 B/W pamphlet picture of the "iso-phase" crossover well mine does not have 3 units it has 2 could it be that one was removed or did Polk just go to 2 one dimensional and one stereo.
I'm in real need of assistance for this project if anybody has a pair that can trade pictures with me please contact I do believe these are worth my time to fix but i just need the right info to re-run the wires to the right drivers. -
Hi; Go to the sticky section above your posting for the schematic for your speakers. That should help you to get them wired right again. Good Luck
