I recently blown a tweeter on my Monitor 70's from a pop while watching a movie. I called Polk Support to check the price for replacement. Price? They didn't even mention price! They asked if I had registered, found my info and said they would send one for each speaker pronto! I was beginning to look at other brands but I will look no further now. Once I upgrade to the RTi A's I'm finished. Thanks Polk!

Thanks Tony, actually it wasn't the volume it was a rented movie and it had something on it. I should of checked it before playing it but as Pat Die would say "Hindsight is 20/20". I'm guessing when the playback got to the smudge it caused the pop. I'm now looking for a power conditioner to prevent this in the future.

Curious as to why your tweeter popped - what movie were you watching and at what volume? (trying to avoid similar disaster...although, then it would be a chance to sample Polks CS!)

Nothing is ever perfect in life. While gear carefully go through QC section, a specific component may pass the test while actually marginal. Rarely happens but at times defective component may actually get to the client. It is outstanding CS like this that will prevent client from moving away from the product.

    Cheers!

Hard to believe you popped an M70 tweeter...there are several reports of just this problem with M70s on the Polk product site....but it is almost ALWAYS a clipping issue. I know you''re running an Onkyo 70X series...and although a high current 100 watt amp section you can 'clip' that Onkyo....so take care...with the new tweets.....And yeah...Polk CS....great stuff....always quick, no nonsense service. I've used them a couple of times myself but mostly for missing parts on open box items...and even there where other companies might balk...Polk...comes through!

Actually it was my daughter watching a movie "Hannah Montana" which I'm sure since it was rented kids had their hands all over it. After the pop I took it out and noticed a smudge on the disc. Believe me, it wasn't the volume or the speakers fault. I take very good care of my equipment. When I say "Pop", I mean a loud jump out of your skin pop. Something on the disc just caused some type of audio distortion.
Either way, reported it Monday received two tweeters this morning (Fri). I'm going to take pictures of the packaging because I was blown away from the care they put into it. I mean you could drop it off a 10 story building onto concrete and wouldn't effect it. Thanks Polk!

UPDATE: Got the tweeter in and installed it. Sounds awesome! Thing is at first installation I wasn't getting much sound from it. I called back and they're sending a new crossover. A couple hours later I turned it on and it sounded perfect. Not sure why but I'm calling them 1st thing Monday morning and telling them to cancel the crossover. I will NEVER use anything but Polks from this day on. (Except the SVS I hope to own one day);)
