What is the worst sound?

Of all of the sounds we hear, which sound would be the one you would consider the absolute worst?

I have one in mind. I'm wondering how long it will take for someone to guess the one noise I'm thinking about.

What say you?

Damn, that was quick. 1st post and you nailed it. ;)

I can put up with subways, crying babies [most of the time], car alarms, dogs barking as if they are chirping, woodpeckers, jackhammers, airplanes and some TV's electronics. However, nails on a chalkboard will make me temporarily crazy to the point to where I leave the room with that damn sound just lingering on in my brain that seems to spread like Cancer. Even days later, the reminder of that sound makes me cringe.

Alright. Now that that one's answered. What would be the worst sound that an audiophile would hear? Once more, I have one in mind and it's not the needle racing across the grooves on an LP player.

    Can you guess that one?

Actually, unless you have personally experienced this one? I doubt anybody can guess it, let alone think of it but we'll see....
