I have heard several Usher models.
I can't say that the be718's were really my type of speaker. For me I found them too warm / muddy sounding. This quality however, makes them very forgiving of edgy digital recording. I can see how some would love this speaker if they are listening to a lot of popular music. Having said this the pair that I did listen to may have not been fully broken in yet.
Usher states that their speakers are designed for solid state gear. They are also known for skewing their sensitivity numbers up by a couple of decibals. I use tubes on mine and really love them.
I A,B,Ced the Be718, cp6311, and cp6381. Of these 3 speakers I like the 6311 the best. I find the 6311's to be far more open and neutral sounding vs the be718's, as well as having far superior coherence vs. the 6381's.

Just thought I'd chime in here as well. I too have the 6311's hooked up in my rig. Previously in the same system I had B&W CDM1 SE's. High point about the Ushers definitely lies in their superb imaging. In that respect I feel that they best the B&W's, although I do think that B&W has the upper hand in the midrange. The Usher's sure do look nice though, and they would easily fit well in any setting. Their bass is rated down to something like 35 Hz and although they won't shake the windows or anything, I believe that they are capable of dipping that low in the frequency range. That's pretty impressive given that it's a two-way design using(I think) a 7'' mid driver.
Right now I am seriously looking at getting a pair of Shanling SP-80 monoblock tube amps to replace the Adcom GFA-555II which is currently powering the Ushers. When doing searches there seems to be a lot of people divided on whether or not this would be a good move. To me it seems like it would though... Certainly not trying to hijack this thread here, but any further input on that would certainly be appreciated. My stereo system: Usher CP-6311, Denon AVP-8000, Adcom GFA-555II, Sony CP-C725, Furman PL-Plus.
Built and gave this system to my dad: B&W CDM-1SE atop Krell LAT-2 stands, Proceed PAV-S, Adcom GFA-555II, Denon DVD-2500. -
