Hey Guys,

I've been running and working out with an officer in the Marine Corp. whose job at present is getting me into shape for OCS and everything after that. Today I ran four miles in a little over 28 minutes. Yesterday, I did suicides for 3 miles. The day before that I ran two miles and did tons of pullups and situps. Tomorrow I get to do more suicides. Needless to say I'm having ball.:D This has pretty much been my schedule for weeks. When I'm not training with the officer, I'm running on my own 5 days a week.

As a result of all the above, I'm eating like a freak. In the past five days alone, I've eaten 4 pounds of pasta, 20 eggs, half a loaf of wonder bread with gobs of peanut butter, 6 apples, a bag of carrots, 6 baked potatoes, 10 chicken Perdue chicken ****, 4 green peppers, 3 red onions, 4 bags of microwave popcorn, a multivitamin, and 2,500 calories of protein/weight gainer . . . I haven't gained a pound, but I am getting ripped out all over and eating whatever I want. The Marine core is awesome.

Now for the question, is there anything I should have in my diet that I don't currently have? Any idea what may be a good meal before running?

Oh by the way, I saw these recon marines today run 3 miles in 15:35! Thank freaking god they are on our side.

Later,

Mike

    candy bars.

only if you find you need a sugar rush on a day you just don't feel up to par.:D

it's good you're going at it even without the training partner. but it sure does give you motivation having a buddy along with ya, doesn't it? good deal solid.

Thanks for the info on the nanners. I guess Potassium really cuts down on lactic acid. I just bought a ton of them. Also, the oatmeal really helped in combination with a snickers bar. I felt really good running today.

I can do better than that. It really depends on who is chasing you.

Before running, not much....the night before....Pasta loading...carbos for energy...if you're running any distance which you are.

Sounds great! I haven't been able to run like that since I was in my 30s...age, you know...also bad for the knees? But you must be a youngster if you can train like that..younger than I, that is..

I've been doing push ups and situps for the most part with a few dumbell presses...since I'm living in a 16 story building here...I'm thinking of doing the stairs a few times..or rather building up to that...my knees cannot take running 4 miles for long!

Being in shape is a great thing! Good Luck..

oh yeah, and on occasion, try some nice cooked white rice for some carbo energy. i failed to recognize until a long time after the fact that rice has a good amount of protein in it as well.
