Anyone familiar with the Criterion Roster? What was the last Criterion film you've seen?

Sure do... I love me some Wes Anderson.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Royal Tenenbaums, yeah! Bottle Rocket, even better.
What about darker stuff like Repulsion with Catherine Deneuve?

The Criterion films tend to be one's I watch more often than not... Technically, the last ones I watched were Fear and Loathing... and Sid and Nancy. It's kind of funny to note the number of Michael Bay films in the collection - as they seem really out of place amidst the likes of Kurosawa and Fellini. I'm really curious as to what extras might lurk on the Spinal Tap release. There's always been that urban legend the original film was close to twenty hours long.

Seen Fear and Loathing and I loved it. Just really bizarre stuff though. I thought it a riot that they always started their conversations with "As my Attorney..."
Have not seen Sid and Nancy yet. The Criterion Disc of this film is OOP. Have not seen Spinal Tap either but I would be open-minded enough to check it out. You're right about the Michael Bay stuff. If you liked Sid and Nancy, check out Naked with David Thewlis. It's about the London Underground stuff. Dark, Depressing, I love it! And if you really wanna get squirmy and wince, watch Cronenberg's Dead Ringers. There's something terrifying about Cronenberg's icy, detached, almost clinical way of approaching the subject matter about twin gynecologists and the female anatomy.

Anything by Cronenberg gets my vote. Naked Lunch is probably one of his more underappreciated gems. The whole reoccurring theme of the body revolting on itself lends itself to good cinema.

I own Fear and Loathing. It's one of my favorites. The Criterion Collection are usually must have movies, though I don't always invest in the Criterion release.

The menu screen sequence on Fear and Loathing is mesmerizing. At least, after three tabs and a glass of OJ.
    I keed. I keed.

Barnes and Noble huh? I have to check that out like pronto. I just recently got Repulsion by Polanski (I know guys....) and it really gets under your skin. Ms. Deneuve's porcelain features such a contrast to her deteriorating mind.....
In the Mood for Love is beautifully shot, acted and scored. You will not be sorry.

Just watched "Wings of Desire" on Criterion, it's a highly rated German flick about an angel that wants to become a human when he falls in love with a circus performer....it sucked almost as much as Fear and Loathing"! Some of the Criterion Collection movies are great but these two blew about as much as a movie can. ymmv
