Denons AVRS starting the AVR 887/2307 and higher models had pres....the 888/2308 removed that.
So that only the AVR 2808/9 988/989 and above had pre-outs those years...
Now Denon has redefined their numbers so that only the 3310/990 series and above have pres...and no 2xxx level series has any.
All AVRs mentioned above have at least 1.1 HDMI or higher..

Hi Bernal...
Can't disagree with that...I do mention that all Higher Models have pre-outs...however the new 4310 is not quite as powerful as your older 4308? You now have to move up to the 4810 in order to equal your unit...and it's about 500 dollars more?
In essence the 3310 takes up where the 2809 left off, the 4310 becomes the new 3809 and the 4810 the new 4308. In the process each amp has become quite a bit more expensive?
Once you get to the 3000 series you've pretty much heard the Denon Signature sound...the 4000 and 5000 series just add features and more power but I, personally, don't think the basic sound quality changes much--in other words you can tell they're Denons and not something else.
Even my lowly 2807 sounds a lot like a 3000 series...when all is said and done..

Hi,
Ok.
Just showing my preference. -
I prefer Denon "4000 series"
Why the 4000 ? Would the 3000 be just as good with the right amp? -
Intresting, I find the Denon 3310 available for less $$$ than the 990
Is there a difference in these two models -

AVR 990 and 3310CI are identical other than:
1. 3310CI has 3-source/3-zone (instead of 2-S/2-Z)
2. 3310CI gets the second remote
The 3310 should be the more expensive one. If its cheaper go for it.
I picked up a 989 a couple months ago from Amazon and love it. Especially since it was only $550. -

How does this translate into sound ?
Would the 4308 be the best for music because it has 24/192 bb's
Is the 3310 the weakest ?
Whats good for movies like bluray audio ? -

I do not have pre-outs for my main, this drives me nuts since my buddy has a much cheaper (other brand) reciever which lets him.
Seems short sighted to limit me to getting rid of fairly good reciever rather than just adding more power...that's hard to swallow.Polk - RTi A7

i feel ya. Unfortunately with Denon, thats the way the cookie crumbles.Pro-ject RM-9.1 w/ Grado Sonata 1 -> USP-1 -> RPA-1 -> Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grands -
I feel the same way about the 607 guys
-
The 607 (600) series has always been Onkyo's Everyman AVR..I think their reasoning is that most people who buy it don't even know what a pre is..they're just buying a decent 500 dollar receiver...So they've always kept the Pre-outs for the higher THX select model the 700 series.....Now I'm not defending that strategy but as far as I know, at least Onkyo has been consistent about it. I've owned both a 604 and a 605 and have a friend who has the 603...the 600s have never had pre-s....the 700s always have.
As for Denon I think they're making a mistake with these newer models...should keep an 'entry' level pre-out model....look at Harman Kardon...most of their AVRs have pre-s except for maybe the very cheapest in the series?
