Letting crossovers earn their money

I was wondering if I should let the head unit's cross over set to "Through" and allow my speaker crossover's (db6501 and mmc690) earn their money? I have the crossover on the head unit set at 80hz plus using the speaker crossover inbetween the amp and speakers.

Thanks

actually you need them both bud :).

The passive crossover that came with your speakers divides the frequencies so the lows go to the mids while the highs go to the tweets. (you don't want your tweets playing the stuff thats better handled by the mids right?)

While the crossover on your HU sends your speakers only the frequencies its designed to play (not the ultra low freqs which are meant for subwoofers) so they don't strain themselves playing frequencies they weren't designed for.

Ideally your HU would send frequencies above 80hz to your new speakers and the frequencies below 80hz to your subwoofer.
