Thanks. We bought them last year and really enjoy them. There's alot of places to ride in Arizona, and you can make them street legal (which ours are) relatively inexpensively. Making them street legal gives you easier access to trails, and allows you to drive them to the gas station for fueling, rather than trying to fuel them on the trailer. Both of these are automatic CVT type transmissions, 4x4, with independant suspension.

I always wanted to pick one up with a plow on front for the winters (with the bonus of having a toy in the nicer weather) but haven't quite been able to pull it off financially...
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

You can actually put a license plate on these in Arizona?

Yes. There are 2 plates; The RV plate are for those quads that are not street legal, and the MC plate are for street legal quads. RV plates don't have a VLT levied on them because they are strictly for off-road use. Arizona now has a new OHV sticker that allows you to waive your vehicle license tax for MC plate holders who wish to remain street legal. All quads must have the $23 OHV sticker (must be renewed annually), street legal or not. This helps produce revenue to open new trails, and maintain existing ones. Street legal quads can ride anywhere motor vehicles are allowed, with the exception of interstate highways.

In Arizona, we don't have a personal property tax per se, but we do pay alot to register our vehicles (formula based on value)--so in reality, it is a personal property tax. Since the VLT (vehicle license tax) is based solely on value, we can write this off on our taxes (if you itemize deductions). To give an example, my (retail value) $14,000 Suzuki Forenza cost approx $230.00 a year to register, but this is reduced by 15% every year.

Nice quads! I have a Yamaha Grizzly 660 and my daughter has a new Honda 250TRX.

I use a plow on the front of my Yamaha at the farm. You need to also get the tire chains, and a tube of sand on the plow also helps. You'll need a good winch on the ATV if you're going to put any extra weight on the plow.

    Very nice.

My friend keeps harping on me to get one. He just bought a RZR and already has a quad so now he wants me to buy one so we can go out riding. I have been thinking about it but that would cut into my audio budget.

Well, it helped that I had a $3900 trade-in against my quad. I'm a "hobbyist" too with many hobbies and a limited budget.

I just rejoined the ATV club last night. I haven't owned a ATV since my Honda 250SX 3 wheeler. I bought a 1998 Honda 4 wheeler for 850.00 yesterday. It is almost identical to the 250, except it has 2 wheels in front and a bit larger motor. I forgot how much fun they are to ride, took my youngest for a test drive and wrote the check when we got back. I like the utility side of it (front/rear racks) but mostly want to be able to drive around the farm a bit.

Those 3-wheelers were squirrely as hell weren't they? Bev & I love to hike the woods, but the quads are sometimes nice when you want to cover a large area and you're on limited time.

I prefer the utility quads as well. I have a large bag for the back (Mad Dog Gear) that we can put food, drinks, extra clothes, fuel, etc. I also have the Stearns rifle rack on the front rack for packing my 12ga when needed---it could also be used for an axe, fishing pole, etc.
