Ok, just got the RTiA9s in and opened them up to have a look. The cabinets are flawless despite being Refurbished units. Unfortunately one of the speakers had something rolling around inside that sounds like a piece of wood clapping back and forth when I tilt the speaker side to side. Upon further inspection it seems there is a black plastic cylinder that is rolling around inside.

The Cylinder is evidently slotted and fits into the grooves of the front port. My first question is whether anything else could have come loose inside the RTiA9 that is associated with this piece and whether all I need to do is guide this tube back on to the port slot from which it came.

Should I secure the cylinder with glue? What kind of glue? Should I reinforce the other speaker as well? To do this should I unscrew the port and glue it that way and then re attach the port with the cylinder attached?

Or, is the cylinder the sign of more serious damage that might require Polk sending me a new speaker?

Regard,

Mike

resecure the cylinder with a good epoxy cement. Simply unscrew the port and resecure with the cylinder attached. Call Polk in the AM and they will send you a new one. I doubt there will be any other issues.

... The beer is on you!:p and congrats on the fine speakers. Post some pics or it did not happen.

What they said, you should be good to go. No super glue or anything that could dissolve a petroleum based plastic - regular old white glue should do the job fine.
