Well...my wife went up to Washington today. This is my best chance to watch some of my favorite war movies. I think I'll be watching Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, and We Were Soldiers. Any other suggestions? Thanks. Peace out....errr...... I mean lata.

Saw that Patton was out on DVD, remastered and in 5.1

Have not seen reviews on the DVD but it was tempting to pick it up.

How could I forget Good Morning Vietnam?

Sorry, I'll try not to let that happen again!

Other war related movies with a humerous side are:
    Air America
    Operation Dumbo Drop
    We Three Kings
    Spies Like Us

Other ones I have seen but didn't really care for:
    The Thin Red Line
    Windtalkers

    Then there are the classics:
    Patton (already mentioned)
    Platoon
    Apocalypse Now

A few more I just thought of:

    The Hunt for Red October
U-571 (I think that is the name, it was the U-boat film that was out last year)
    Patroit Games

I'm sure there are many others but I will try to stop hogging this thread!

Aww crap! Hart's War was another good one! Not really a "war/action" film, more of a "drama/suspense" but I liked it. It was good.

    Tora Tora Tora

Victory at Sea (at least listen to the lp, if you don't get the movie)

    Battle of Britain

    Guns of the Navarone

Stategic Air Command with the greatness of Jimmy Stewart. Incredible air sequences of the B-36 'Peacemaker' make it worth the watch on that merit alone.

    Cheers,
    Russ

How was that Doc? A Red-October re-make, or did it stand on its own?

Haven't seen it yet, worth a rental, or go ahead and buy?

I'll have to add that Kelly's Heroes has to be one of the best transfers of an older movie that I have ever seen, and one of the funniest movies ever.
