    yeah when it comes time.. i'm going to have a hard time deciding what i want to put in the bedroom when I get around to putting a system in there b/c it'll need to be bookshelves.. so do I go RTIa3 and use a receiver or do I go the 7s route, but i'll have to put an amp in the bedroom.. course that'll also depend on the WAF ;)

    You don't HAVE to use a separate amp with the 7's, there are plenty of receivers and integrateds that will drive them just fine. I was to choose, I'd probably do a small tube job with the either. We drove the 7's fine at doro's house with an 8 watt push pull tube amp.

    yeah I had considered the integrated route since i won't be really be planning on using a tuner in there, more than likely just a CD/DVD player and TV.
    gotta save up that money first.. i'm starting to get into audio enough now that i'm starting to sell off my Transformers toy collection little bit by little bit to get more money for this... I get more tangible enjoyment out of listening than I do looking at toys displayed on a shelf.

    I have my LSi7 hooked up to an HK 3480 in my living room, absolutely beautiful sound. I've had more expensive gear on them, but this setup is my favorite. This HK receiver is a damn fine product, enough such that I haven't convinced myself to upgrade to a surround setup.

    The RTiA3s are a great deal and provide fantastic sonic value - especially at the Polk Direct price. Easy to drive, spacious soundstage, great detail and 'sparkle'.

    Assimilated - do you notice the difference in THD at all? the current version the 3490 says it has .2% THD on the 4ohm setting, does it make that much difference?

    You can't really hear distortion until it's >1% so those figures never really mean much of anything.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    and considering HK has a direct seller on ebay as well for refurbs i'm tempted to do almost the exact same set up as Assimilated..for my bedroom

    I actually owned both at the same time and did my own in-house 'death match'...kept the RTiA3s....cuz they sound better...for me....:D

    Let me qualify my statement a bit....when I did my own comparison - it was not an easy choice, both the RTiA3 and LSi7 are great values (and I got a killer deal on the LSi7s that really made the comparison on sonic quality and cost was not a factor...really).

    Each speaker had strengths and weaknesses - and for my system and my listening habits and my musical preferences - by a small factor the RTiA3 was juussttt right.

    A prospective purchase should be based first on direct comparison, but many times this is just not possible.

    So, you do what ya gotta do - and do your homework.

    Anyway....the LSi7 is a great sounding speaker - but make sure it is a right 'fit' for you.

    It's all good....

    And it could very well be that depending on what rig the LSi7s are in - they could be the better choice.

    I know not everyone subscribes to the notion of 'system synergy', but I think there is definitely something to it -which makes generalizations about components very dangerous.

    And folks have different likes and dislikes as well - and that is cool, too.
