Any wood burners out there?

When I lived at home, we would go through about 12 cords of wood each winter, but that was for 2 furnaces. One for our 120 year old house(used to be very drafty in the winter) and a large garage/shop area. The garage obviously consumed more than our house. One side note, our house is regularly 80 degrees or more in the winter time though because that's how my mom wants it to be.

I love my CharMaster outdoor wood furnace. Holds a 1/4 chord of wood, computer controlled burn rate, I can call from my cell phone when I'm about 2 hrs away and start it up and have heat when I get to the cabin.
that's cool!....I'm still mastering my dvr:pYep, my name really is Bob.

Speaking of "need be", natural gas will rise dramatically and heating oil will probably be triple what it was last year due to what is happening to our good old dollar right now.
....and inflation will be out of control!! Anybody that plans to make a major purchase on credit in the next few years would be wise to do it now if they can!Yep, my name really is Bob.

I have owned/used a woodburning fireplace insert (QuadraFire~3500, IIRC) for about 8 years, and I love it. And even though it will eventually heat the whole house, having a ranch-style guarantees that the bedroom end of the house stays cooler while the living room cooks, especially if the blower is used! So it's only really used for supplemental heat, but the glass door still gives the feel of having a "real" fire going. Best of both worlds, IMO.So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?
