Emotiva XPA-3

Nice "inheritance" from your Pop, Imac. Welcome to the Forum. I have had zero issues with my Xpa-3 since purchase. Your front stage will be much improved over the 706. Found this amp to be a pretty decent pickup for one just starting to delve into the world of separates, (such as myself). Very affordable, and seemingly good quality. I am looking at a few Adcom, Nad, and Sunfire units that really blew me away though, compared to the Xpa-3. Keep us posted, and congrats.:D

I'll be picking up the my new XPA-3 from my dad today. Although my dad is stating that if the UPA-7 doesn't sound as good as his XPA-3 he's sending it back and I'll be left with nothing.

I'll be sure to tell him how awesome his system sounds with his UPA-7. -
Offer to pay him for it, and tell him to buy the xpa-5 if the UPA doesn't stack up. I doubt that it will, since it's only 125wpc vs 200. Whatever possessed him to downgrade is beyond me.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

Well we have the UPA-7 hooked up and it sounds wonderful. My dads living room isn't all that big so the XPA-3 might of been a little bit of over kill.
The reason why he went with the UPA-7 is because he's on the list for the UMC-1 processor and he would need either an XPA-5 to accommodate the other 4 channels which means running 2 huge amps or just one 7 channel amp.
So far he's actually happy with the change. -

I got an early XPA 5, and I had the shutdown issue. I switched IC's, and smooth sailing ever since.
All you have to do is tell them the name of the person you bought the amp from and they will transfer the warranty over into your name, that simple. Your problem is not common as I too also own several amps and have never had a problem with it switching into protect mode.
To the OP best of luck, the XPA-3 is a good amp for it to be free lol. There are some other good suggestions as well, but let your ears be the judge and if you don't like it, sell it, there are always buyers.
