Hi all...
There's a guy selling Monitor 7's. I don't know much about the speakers. Any comments on what I should offer (He said reasonable offers accepted) and how I shoudl use them. Would these be good for a modest 2 channel use or are they used more for other things? What is their best use?
Thanks,
James

Also, I know it's one, pretty bad picture, but is it possible to identify which Polk 7's these are. I looked on Polksda.com and there are apparently a lot of them. Which are the best? What's the difference?
Thanks bunches.

$40 for the pair is "reasonable" in some circles. Go get them James.

From what i can tell from that picture, they look like they're in pretty nice shape.
I can't tell what they are with the grills on, though.
Assuming that they're as nice as they seem to be, i'd say $50-$100 would be a fair offer. Start at $50 and see what he says. I paid $75 for mine.
They'd be great for a starter 2-channel setup.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

My guess is they are Monitor 7's with the SL2500 tweeter.

I made an offer to the guy, but to be honest, I doubt he'll take it. The monitor 7's were one of a few things he was offering. Most of it looked like junk - Celestion speakers, Old sony CD player, etc. and he wanted 1,000 dollars for it all. It looks like he was trying to rip someone off, so not sure if he is really interested in a 'reasonable' deal. I'll let everyone know.

Looks like Monitor 7's with SL2000 tweeters because of the curve front cabinet. Definately worth making an offer.

I agree. The grill style & angled front makes me think they are 7C's.

I guess i could have looked a little better.... i have 7Cs myself.
Worth checking out. You may or may not like the tweeter, i personally don't have a problem with it. It's a LITTLE harsh for my tastes, but i have to really be cranking them for it to bug me in the slightest.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

They look like 7C's to me. The angled baffle on the cabinet gives it away. Probably with SL-2000 tweeters.
The 7's are some fantastic sounding 2 channel speakers!! Very well balanced, great high end, very pleasing low end(especially for their size). They can be slightly picky with placement...mainly with adjusting them to the proper toe in. I've found they work best when the tweeters are firing past your ears and intersecting at a point right behind your head.
I've seen them sell for anywhere from $10 to $150 in excellent condition. I paid $20 for my Peerless 7A's, but that was a killer deal at a local auction house.
Condition dependent, I'd say anywhere from $50-100 would be a great price. Start at $50, and you'll probably end up settling at $75...they're worth every penny of it too.

No asking price. The Polks were a part of a bunch of electronics junk for sale. I didn't want the old sony crap, so I asked if I could purchase the Polks seperately, which is where I am now. I haven't heard from him all day, but hopefully sometime tonight.
It seems that 7C's were the most expensive in the day...is there a reason? Is it just a tweeter difference between all the 7's?2 Channel/HT:

If you're going by the prices shown on polksda.com, don't take them for fact. Not all of the info on there is entirely correct. It's a useful reference though in a lot of ways.
It could also have been due to being produced later than the other ones...that's just speculation though. The nirvana inducer-

Very excited! I'll picking up the Monitor 7's for 90 bucks on the way home from work. I have NO 2 channel anything. I guess I'll have to find some preamp. I can take the 2 channel amp I have now and use it, I guess. I also have a CD player I purchased from George...so I guess I can somehow make it work I'll post pics if I get a chance tonight, or if not, maybe tomorrow. Now to sneak them inside, in the rain, without my wife seeing
