    Hey CNH,

How's the air in Beijing this time of year? Last time I was there in the summer, the smog and pollution was giving me shortness of breath. But, the countryside is gorgeous.

    Have fun,

    Mike

That was my guess. :p There is no way the Chinese government would want to pay Bose prices when they can just force a 6 year old to make the same thing.

You know I hadn't thought about that...but it is quite possible...although China did spend over 40 billion dollars putting all the infrastructure for the 2008 Olympics together..a budget that dwarfed the 10 billion that the EU helped Greece with in 2004.

    But it's definitely possible.

    Hi Mike,

The Chinese have been messing with the weather big time here...a lot of cloud seeding here and there....

We have friends in the U.S. State Dept. who have warned us not to believe the Chinese Index for quality of air that is officially reported here.

The U.S. Embassy has its own equipment and often there is a variation between what Beijing says and what the pollution index actually is....it can be 5-10 times worse according to our people? We have been warned to monitor our 'respiratory' health regularly recently.

I, myself, have not had much of a problem though the air here does 'suck'...remember I normally live in MAINE! The problem I've had is eczema..on my hands in particular...have been treated twice for pretty serious skin disorders....am still on steroids for my hands...gradually decreasing the dosages...probably the WORST outbreaks of my life here? A combination of ENVIRONMENTAL pollution and DRYNESS...Beijing is a very very dry climate compared to Maine.

Yeah, I'm probably taking a couple of years off my life expectancy with my year stay here! Lots of things to see..places to visit...but I do miss home and I particularly miss my 'stuff' (especially the old Adcom and SDAs, etc.)...

Enjoy the BOSE...Taiwanese made....you know Sal...that may actually be an improvement!

It is just another form of the government's censorship buy keeping the people from faithful representation of the sound.

Yes a definit possibility. Face is a very important part of the culture. So the speakers could be anything, and the Bose name used because it is probably recognized (good and bad) world wide more than any other.

Also consider that Bose could have done this for free. Not only a world wide audience, but a huge Chinese audience. A huge Chinese audience that is rapidly gaining cash to spend on items and products for leisure and enjoyment, not just the necessities for survival. cnh have you noticed much Bose marketing or products in the stores? I never paid any attention.
