Which surround speakers
Hi All,
I am new to this. I wanted to setup a good 7.1 home theatre. I wanted my system to give the best for my music and movies. So after doing lot of research, i decided to go with polk. Then i brought a Denon AVR-2310ci receiver
and did 14AWG CL2 rated speaker wiring for my 7.1 setup.
Now i am looking for the best speaker conbination that goes well with my denon AVR-2310ci.
Iam looking at the following. please give me your advice.
FrontSides: polk TSi500 or Monitor 70
Center: CS20 or CS2
SubWoofer: PSW505 or DSW microPRO1000
Sorround Side: TC80i or ??
Sorround Rear: OWM3 or ??
If i go with TSI500+CS20+PSW505+TC80i+OWM3, then would my denon receiver be suffecient with enough amp power to give better sound?
I did not made my decision yet on my surrounds yet. Iam still doing my research. My famliy room has walls only on 3 sides and it opens into kitchen on the other side( 7 ft wide and 16 ft long) . Since there is no second side wall i am thinking of ceiling mount side surround speakers. Do i have any better option for side surrounds that goes well with TSi500/M70 and CS20/CS2 ? What do you think about my rear surround? I have a wall on rear.
Any help would be appreciated. Any recommendations are welcome.
Thanks
Sharath

Welcome to CP sgudipati!
Sounds like you got a good idea of what you're looking for, but one thing I'd like to ask is do you have a decent-sized living room that'll support your 7.1 setup?
This is a common mistake some people run into, with the false idea that more speakers is generally better. A properly setup 5.1 system will sound much better than a 7.1 setup that's cramped up.
As for the subs, I can't say much about the 505 due to the fact that I've never heard one but for the price they go at I'd say get 2 of them. I just reviewed the MicroPro 1000 and it's amazing what the little thing can do, but it has it's limits and I'd say if you do have a medium/large sized room, your best bet is to skip out on it and save up for something bigger and more aimed at HT.Truck setup

Bernal may be on to something with the bipole/dipole thought given your unique room set up. If you are going to be powering it all with the receiver, I don't know that I would put so much cash into the floor standers. While Denon makes good stuff, you may not be able to reach the full potential of the speakers. Don't get me wrong, it will still sound great:)
You will also want to try and keep the fronts and center in the same series to have a good timbre match. I can't agree enough about the 5.1/7.1 thing either! Some rooms and seating arrangements just do not lend themselves to a proper 7.1 set up. What will be your main source materials, Bluray or DVD? If it's DVD, then you won't get true 7.1 sound anyway. You may also want to consider running 6.1(single surround back instead of 2).
As far as sounding good for music and HT, the floor standers will almost always give you the best for music, but don't always give the positioning flexibility of satellites. The micropro would definitely be the best for music, but will probably run out of steam on the HT side. The 505 would be louder and most likely better for HT. It would do ok for music to, but not the best IMO. I have a 505 and love it, especially considering the price, but I'm by no means an expert either. I will be posting a review of the RM85 set up with the psw505 this weekend hopefully, so keep an eye out for it. I'm waiting on the RM85 to get here, but I got the 505 last week.
Keep in mind, many of my thoughts go along best bang for the buck, and not always best:D If I had the money my recommendations may differ. I hope that helps some, enjoy the ride!Sony 40" LCD
