Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest. The finish is satin black. The shipping weight is 90lbs and the package(27x23x33) qualifies as oversize from UPS so it bumps the weight up 106lb class. You are looking at close to $130

I'm using the driver taken from HSU's older VTF-3 HO model in a DIY sub and it absolutely rocks everything here.

The VTF MK3 uses the same enclosure/etc. (minus 500watt amp n diff driver) but looking at the numbers they shouldn't differ too much, maybe just a little less output and extended frequency down to only 18hz.

What I'm trying to say, this subwoofer is a beast and I bet that it'll please anyone that's been on the look out for an SVS or EPIK subwoofer at this price range. Deep, powerful bass for HT yet amazingly accurate for music given it's characteristics.

Anyway, goodluck with your sale! And free bump!

someone buy this sub! before I bought my VTF-3, I auditioned it side by side with an SVS, and picked the HSU. The sound quality and musicality of this sub is MUCH better than the SVS, while having an enormous amount of headroom. Its the cleanest sub you'll ever hear!

I had a PB12-NSD for 2 weeks. The HSU is much more accurate, musical, and clean... with AT LEAST as much head-room as the SVS. Powerful bass, without the slightest hint of boom...just straight up compressed air shaking up the room. It really is unlike anything I've heard from a subwoofer.

I've heard SVS subs, and honestly I'd lean more torwards HSU research if you're looking for a double-duty sub. A polk member here took the sub I built using the HSU driver, and he too thought it was very clean, accurate, and fast for music and just as powerful for HT.

I've heard the older 12" model as well as cylinder-models, never the ultra's so don't get me wrong when I say that I think the HSU sounded better. Just a personal opinion, someone needs to jump on this sub!

Almost all of the people who have had the chance to listen to both, prefer the HSU on the basis of sound quality. The accuracy of the bass provides benefits outside of music too...as subtle LFE details that are either overdone or missed altogether by the SVS are brought to life very gracefully with the HSU

Another big plus to the VTF-3 is the variable tuning...allowing you to switch between a lower extension, and higher output. While the SVS did a great job of extending into really low frequencies.....the output in the upper LFE frequencies (around 50-80hz) were lacking in my experience . The same is the case for my VTF-3 running in max extension mode, which is why I run mine in max output mode. And the extension is still very good in max output mode. I measured down to 15hz in max output mode...it'll go very close to 10hz in max extension mode.

So another big push for someone to pick up this sub. You won't regret it!

    Polkies:

Thanks for the kind push for this sub. I spent a lot of time and research and the Hsu fit the bill. Originally, I was looking for another companion to this great sub, but decided on another direction after I found a lack of this model on the used market. I have heard the SVS and it is no slouch, but for me the HSU was a tad better in music as well as HT.
