At the last HQ Polkfest at Al's house, we put 25lb bags of lead shot ontop of each sub to keep them from walking around around the room. Those were 1000's though, you might need an anvil for your 3000.

Shoot I have yet to really push my pair of 3000s. Do they walk on carpet too? I may have to invest in some nice spikes. -

I've had mine move on my carpet a couple times when pushing it hard but it only moves a inch or two.
Polk makes spikes for the dsw and micropro subs. -

Geez, how hard are you pushing that 1000? I'm not getting that much movement from this one.....I guess I just tend to be really gentle with other peoples' gearSolidSqual wrote: »Shoot I have yet to really push my pair of 3000s. Do they walk on carpet too? I may have to invest in some nice spikes.
Doesn't the rubber foot just come off like the RT series speakers? I've got a pair of towers with the adjustable rubber feet like the micropro, and the rubber foot peg slips off to reveal a spike. In fact I'll go try that now.I've had mine move on my carpet a couple times when pushing it hard but it only moves a inch or two.
Polk makes spikes for the dsw and micropro subs.

Well if they do come off, it's hard as well....probably because it's still pretty new. The rubber feet on my towers come off easily, I can just use those in place of the micropro's feet if I have to. Should be the same thread/size.Truck setup

I thought the rubber was supposed to come off too to reveal the spike. Hmm, I acutally never tried it as my carpet is very tightly compacted (right use of words?) so for me spikes never work. Hmm let me know, otherwise I can contact them to see if they were supposed to come with anything else that I didn't get. -
you might try the auralex sub stands about fifty bucks and alot of sound function for a subwoofer........I did certainly enjoy the micro sub at the 2008 AlFest, best Polk speaker in that system by far.

Like I said, I thought so too just like the towers I've got.
I'll try on another footpeg or 2 on the sub, as for the towers they probably come off easy because I used the spikes for several years in my carpeted living room.Truck setup

Well I thought I'd follow this up with what I've been hearing so far.
First off, I've never heard a sub blend in so well with my fronts up until now. I've messed around with placement and found the best spot in the front right corner of my rig (where the DIY sub was) about 17" from the back wall and 9" from the side wall. Keep in mind, I removed the carpet from underneath the sub before setup was complete.
Turned it up a bit louder today than I usually do, and there was some nasty rattling from behind and around the sub. It even began to dance, more often than usual!
Logical thing to do for me was to cut out a square section of carpet just an inch longer/wider than the sub itself and place it underneath. While everything else remained the same, bass tightened up extremely! I didn't know I had so much extra "boom" considering it wasn't even close to a corner. One would say they would hear alot less bass, I'd like to say I simply hear alot cleaner bass! Sure it doesn't sound as loud as it did, mainly because it was sitting on hardwood floors but I definitely like the way it sounds now. Haven't bothered with the feet/spike thing but I think I'll look more into that later.
Later down the road, with a bigger pair of Maggies I'd say I'll be on the lookout for a bigger MicroPro subTruck setup

Tried some spikes off my old rt10s on the 3k.Started with all 4 corners.Had to turn down the volume right away.Sounded like it was going to explodeSub was not happy camper.Removed 2 of 4 spikes, left back two in.Bass still sounded harsh.Flopped to spikes to front, with no result.Removed.Ended up leaving one spike in back right corner, which is k
keeping it planted.Sounds back to what I'm use to.:)3k sitting on vinal flooring.:)Rec rm vm30 micro pro 3000 akai 2 channel. ht anthem MTX 5 channel anthem P2 statement anthem 325, 8 channel Martin Logan power amp for 4 ceiling ls900 2 and outdoor polks, 2 JL 110’s subs panasonic 65" plasma lsim 705’s , 706c, L200 and Control 4 garage rig monitor 10s crossovers by VR3, dynamat, RDO-194's, new drivers. psw 111 Pioneer 9040 BDP53fd 100 " screen Nakamichi HD projector, and Panasonic 65” plasma. -

I tried using my RT1000P's spikes on the MicroPro to have it sit better on the small piece of carpet, didn't work. It actually dragged the piece of carpet with it when it danced around the floor lol it stays in place better without the spikes in my situation. Anyway, after turning it up for some serious bass-testing I found my hardwood floors rattle
They stopped rattling when I applied some weight to the sub (just had my hands on top of it lightly holding it down). I thought to myself...well that sucks and considered maybe the feet weren't exactly level but everything is. Guess I never had that problem with the other sub considering it sits flat on the floor and weighs nearly 100lbs. It IS an old apartment, when they redid our kitchen I found a check-receipt dating back to 1951 lol
More to come once I figure out what to do with things.Truck setup
