hi, I have four 10 day old Polk RDO194 tweeters for sale. I bought these from Polk 10 days ago and have broken them in and listened to them. They have about 100 hours on them. They are a great tweeter but in my application I prefer what i already had. My price is based on the fact they are pretty much brand new . Asking $40 each. Thanks, keith

Curious as to what you had, that you prefered? Must have been Sl1000 or SL2000, but I have to say you are one of the first ppl I have read like those over the 194's...Can you elaborate?

Good luck with the sale...looks like you have buyers stacked up already...

They were the SL 2000s and I am not the only one who has prefered them The problem around here being god forbid you do not like the RDO194 I have swapped out tweeters hundreds of times in the last 2 years mainly on RTA 12s. I have a pretty good handle on the many different tweerters including the fact there are more versions of the peerless then people realize and none sound the same.
I have tried RD0194 before in the 12s and thought they sounded really nice but had a way of rounding off everything. This group of four were used in SDA 1c.s. Very nice but the high end was muted. triangles sounded non metalic. Steel guitars sound like nylon. I was talking to someone today who also pointed out in their experience lack of decay on high hats . The 2000s are not bad in the 1c to my or my wifes ears but I have heard them in a Monitor 10s and thought they were to bright. I took my stuff out and I tried a mass market mid fi stuff Adcom and then the 2000 got annoying. Someobne on here recently called the RDO 194 overly detuned. I would agree with that It is very easy to listen to but in my system lacks life and sparkle and dulls up rock and roll and blues. The 2000 is also more transparent. It cracks me up because between 1985 and 1990 polk sold 100,000s of speakers with these tweeters in them. if they were so horrible they would not have sold and they would have changed right away. If it is a choice between dull and a little crisp that is a no brainer in my book. Maybe I will try the 198 route. Also it is very system dependent. You have to look at some the stuff people are running The guy i got the 1Cs from was running a big Denon AV receiver and it sounded like crap. I am using and Exposure 2010S ( mind blowing I tried 10 different integrateds up to $3000 and this one for $1200 is live music) Sony SCD XA777ES Analysis plus Oval 9 wire and Cardas Neutral Reference IC and VH Flavor 4 power cords.

thank for the detailed ressponse Geppy. I have a couple of sets of speakers with SL2000' and I am working out what to replace them with. I too am considering the 198, with corresponding Cap upgrades of course.
