Pellet Stove...
Systems

Hello
Well I finally got our pellet stove up and running, this is the one we're using:

We got it in the honey-glo brown color with the self-ignition system. So far its working great, can't believe how much heat it puts out even on the low setting. I guess we must have got a good batch of pellets as that makes a difference from what I've read....These are the pellets we're using:
www.fuelkingpellets.com
We put it down in our basement and have the exhaust "plumbed" up through an exiting chimney that had an old oil furnace hooked up too it originally. I had to run a flex pipe all the up to the top with a cap as they don't recommend you exhaust it into an open chimney with a liner. Seems to draw okay. It also has a cold air hook up and I had plumbed a pipe in the wall for that when I was remodeling.
I know these things can be tempramental so I hope it keeps working okay. I think the technology has come a long way since the first ones...

Pellet stoves are great. We have one upstairs in the living room and would love another one down stairs. Sure helps reduce fuel costs during the winter. Clean, warm and aesthetically pleasing.Michael
In the beginning, all knowledge was new!

They work very well.
Have you had any BBQ off the new wood pellet BBQ pits? They are awesome.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
I use a wood stove as my primary heat source. I go through about 3 cords of hard wood for the whole cold season. Works great. It has a glass window, so I can see the flames which I really like. I've always loved fire.

Yeah 'cause the wood pellets still have the wood resins in them. It's part of what helps them bind together. If you use it with an open chimney with a liner, the resin builds up and can start a chimney fire. Since it's not a typical wood burning fireplace where you can see the build up people tend to let the cleanings go.
A friend of mine has one and he likes it as well. But his exhaust vent is very short and dumps out to the exterior about 6 feet from the exhaust vent of the stove.
Make sure you keep it clean and it should last you a good long time. There isn't much to them but they do work well. Kind of like a modern interpretation of the old cast iron wood stoves.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Nice unit. Do you know there is an energy tax rebate for up to $1500 (I think) It covers stove, piping and install (if you paid for any of that) There are some qualifications you need to meet.
1. EPA TAX CREDIT OF 30% MUST BE > 75% EFF TO RECEIVE TAX CREDT
2. UP TO $1500 TOTAL FROM EITHER 2009 OR 2010 TAX YEARS

That's HOT!!!, I was talking to the wife about getting one, What kind chimney does it need outside?
Or does that flue just go up past your roof?
Well it just depends on where you place the stove in your house to what type of chimney your going to use.
In my original post it describes how this one is "plumbed"Testing
