RM6750 Subwoofer on Yamaha RX-V465 Receiver

Hi folks. I'm just a newb getting into all of this home theater stuff a little and had some questions about my sub settings, mainly, what is all this stuff and what do I set it to? I have the Polk RM6750 sub and on the back there are settings for the following:

- Phase
- Low Pass
- Volume

I connect these to my receiver using a standard RCA cable to the sub out on the receiver and I'm not sure what the appropriate settings are for the sub to work with the receiver properly.

Then on the receiver I have the following related to the sub:

Crossover Setting
Phase - Norm or Rev

I'm not sure what to set any of this stuff. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

On sub: Phase, I usually set to normal or zero you can play with it and see what you prefer. Low pass= the lowest frequency you want to go through your sub usually cut off at 60 or so but again play with it and see what you like. and Volume= no brainier.

On receiver Phase normal or reverse leave on normal as this does the same on your sub and you should only mess with one of them.

What input are you coming into on that Polk Sub...you should come in on the LFE or bypass/Unfiltered Input if there is one. If you do that you don't need to worry about the subs cut-off; it is bypassed! The receiver will handle the cut off.

Next, are you running a satellite speaker system because if so you want to set the crossover on the receiver to cover the lowest bass the satellite can put out....for example...100hz, 110, 120, 130....I suspect your satellites are in that range.

Zardoss has the rest covered above...

    Welcome to Club Polk

    And good luck!
