How much of a difference does amping door speakers make????

Here Is my system:

Alpine CDM series HU (can't think of the model # off the top of my head)
4 x db651 speakers
2 x db840dvc subs
1 x PA400.1 amp
1 x 0.5 Farad cap

The door speakers will start distorting about halfway up on the volume control. How much louder can I turn it up if I amped the door speakers? Does it increase or decrease SQ? How would I go about wiring the new amp into the system?

putting an amp on your door speakers will give you much cleaner SQ and more head room for louder cleaner sound than any head unit can give you. your mid's and high's will be much more present. And yes you will be able to turn it up louder. HU's amps are not very powerful at all.

AMP AMP AMP those mid's and high's

The speakers arent distorting - youre head unit is running out of clean power and the speakers are simply reproducing the distorted signal theyre being fed.

Buying a bigger amp will not only make them louder but will make them sound much better as well.

A good 4 channel amp in the 75 watt per channel range would be a good choice. If youre on a budget, the Alpine V Power line is a very solid set of amps. The Polk Audio PA500.4 is an excellent amp (I use it on my SR6500's) or the PA200.4 would be a cheaper alternative.

How would this Alpine power pack thing compare to a separate amp?

That would be better than head unit power but youd be much better off with something like this:

But youd be much better off with one of these:
