lol cody just steps up 5 models... lmfao.
the 3500 really is a poser deck... 1 preout is cheesy bud, cody is way right, if you ever wanna use this deck for anything "useful" in the future, u need dual outs - preferably 4 v.
its not lik eyou're gonna die without it, but for like 70 bucks difference, its really worth the cost... that is a decision that u gotta make for yourself though.
but think about this -- you're gonna get a lot more "sound shaping and tweaking" tools with the 7400 -- more ways to make the music sound the way you want it to.
and i'll tell ya, there's nothin like sittin the car and going "u know there just isn't enough sound at 12.5 khz... i wish i could just boost it a tiny bit right there" and then finding out that you're deck doesn't have the capability to do that.
if u never see yourself adding a 2nd amp, and u dont care if you have some cool tweaking accessories / sound shapers, then go w/ the 3500 -- hell u could do the 2500 for all it matters, they're pretty close and the 2500 is cheaper.
but if u really want the edge - somethin like the 7400.
also... why'd u downgrade the amp?????? 4 ohm dvc = 8 per sub / 3 = 2.6666 ohms... 500D does like 700 watts at 14.4 into that load... thats a hefty 230 a sub.... the 250D takes u down to like 115 a sub. like if it died and u had to replace it, i can understand but if u just up and changed em for no reason i'mma be sittin here goin "what the heck?"The Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge -
I have the DEH-7300 in my girl's car and it is basically the older model of the 7400. She wanted the 5400 which was comparable to 3500 but its bonus was it had some EQ settings and a pretty dolphin swimming on teh screen. Couldn't get that one and the guy told me he had them and didn't. So he sent me a 7300, for teh price of teh 5300 that he didn't have. So I got a 463 dollar CD deck for 249 bucks.
Anyway, moral is, I'm glad the guy sent me teh upgrade. It is a much nicer deck than the dolphin one and has plenty of capability. If I hadn't gotten this deck, I would be able to run the Hifonics amp in her car that I am now.
Spend teh extra cash. A good head unit will go a long way and if you don't abuse it, it will last a very long time. My Kenwood eXcelon head unit is almost 6 years old and still looks and operates like it was new. The CD Changer is 8 years old and doesn't have the best operation in ejecting the cartridge but it operates just fine. I'm glad I spent the extra money there because I have one hell of a nice head unit that still competes with th new stuff out there.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
You're just jealous 'cause the voices don't talk to you! -
i've got the 5400 in my grandfathe'rs truck -- its nothin special.
it does have dual outs though -- 2 volt, but at least dual... one is a sub out, the other is full range.
it beats the piss out of the kenwood 3000 series he had in there before this.
i only paid 10 bucks for this deck...lol...the internal amp chip was shot to hell and it took me 2 days just to get the deck to power up and output sound, but hey -- it onlycost me 10 bucks! and it works great! (just cant hook up any speaker to it, but i've sworn to use amps for the rest of my life anyway). The Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge -
lol....only 5
but still
thats the cheapest one with 4v pre outs
if u cant afford it...at least get the one that has dual 2v pre outs
-Cody -

ya bud i just found that out today myself... last year's model (3-4-00 insted of 3-5-00 i think) only had 1 out. i hadn't known that they stepped up the quality this year... just found out today when the guy i worked with was tellin a customer about it and he told me about the improvements of this years line over last.
dual 2's will do ya fine... the 7400/7500 is still a better deck but the 3500 aint too shabby, no doubtThe Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge -
if it has dual preouts then youll be good...i said it had one because www.carmedia1.com said it had one
