Kitchen is getting there

Except for some outlet holes I patched
I still have to sand them down a little more.... once that is done - caulk up the seams around those parts..

Clean up the mess in the bottom cabinets - slap some primer on the walls and floors around the bottom cabs - then on the bottom cabs - then lay down the semi gloss on the bottom cabinets --- finish them up - mount the counter tops - mount the sink, plumbing - all the electrical related to the things going in the cabinets ---

Primer the rest of the room, paint it up - make some doors for the cabinets and utility closet - mount the hardware, put down a floor...

DONE!

Estimated time - 2-3 weeks. Shooting for two!

unfortunately I have done alot and I wasted a week stripping paint.

    But so far --

I pulled up three layers of flooring, ripped out cabinets, sprayed popcorn ceiling covering in the utility closet, reframed all of the windows and door frames, built new top an bottom cabinets, skim coated the front wall - coated the other walls - patched the other areas. Rebuilt the floor where termite damage was found... Russ ran new wiring.

Alot*** had to be done in the kitchen and unfortunately alot of time was wasted trying to work around things that were there and then decided to just start fresh..

Keep in mind per room - I am using on average 36 pounds of joint compound and around 20+ tubes of caulk and 20+ tubes of liquid nail.

These rooms are sealed up tighter than most new houses I would guess.

But the next few weeks will fly by and will probably happen alot faster than I think.

ahhh - worked for a good 8 hours today... put down 3 gallons of Behr primer. Behr primer kills KILLZ primer anyday. I will never use that **** again.

Anyways - four coats on the walls, one on the ceiling and a little bit on the trim. Bottom cabinets have a final coat of primer rolled on them - just need to brush it in.

Once I get the entire room white as pearl - lol - I will put the bottom cabinets with the actual color and mount the counter...

Room may go alot faster than expected - it is the sink that will be the hold up I am sure.

Estimated gallons to do the entire room is 6. This includes doing the walls, cabinets, trim, floor, ceiling, utility closet.

Per room? Are you remodeling a house, or building a bomb shelter?

It looks like I might have some time this weekend. You bring the sweet ladies and the beer.....I'll bring the knowledge and the tools.

You do live in a safe neighborhood, don't you? I wouldn't want all the prostitutes and single/married women chasing after me once they discover I'm there. That stuff gets old after a while and it wastes gas.

    Good luck.

I've done a "strip out to the studs" kitchen remodel, and it's a lot of work.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

I am very scared as to what is going to happen tomorrow...

Keep in mind - no demo in the kitchen, period!!! Just paint... LOL

The bedrooms can be stripped down to the studs - 100%. Maybe the hallway... maybe.

But kitchen is a paint only zone! :)

Here is the patch i did on the ceiling where the old light use to be ---

I cut out a square in the sheetrock - braced around the hole, mounted new sheetrock - took joint compound smoothed it to match the rest of the ceiling -- took popcorn "spackle" - filled it in and applied pressure evenly to the fill while quickly releasing the puddy knife to give it spikes and blended it in.

It is not perfect - little more spikey than the rest of the ceiling but... I can more than live with it considering a light will be mounted directly beside to draw even more attention from it.

Oh yeah and Russ -- the metal clips I found -- they mounted the old light with SHEETROCK ANCHORS... wowzers
