    I watched an F/A-18 do a faster-than-sound pass at an airshow.. either last year or the year before. You saw him coming in (low)... you watched him fly by... dead silence... you watched him start to streak away and up... and then the sound.. WHOOSH!

    I've been sitting, waiting at the StL airport before.... lots of air traffic.. but when a pair of F-15s take off, you can hear it easily over all the other noise.
