Comments on surrounds
Hi all...
There is a local guy selling FxiA4's used. I have been thinking about surround speakers since I have upgraded my front sound system. I'm not sure, but I believe I read somewhere that these may be a good match. Here is my current setup:
HK AVR 354
SoundCraftsmen PCR800
Fronts: RTA 11TL's
Center: CS400
Surrounds: Monitor 30's
Sub: Def. Tech Prosub 800
Will the FxiA4's be timbre matched to the speakers I have now? What's a good price for them? The guy is asking 200, which seems a bit high, but I don't know the going rate.
Thanks,
James

Bump...no comments on how well fxia4's are timbre matched to my setup? Also, is 200 a good price or too high? He is willing to sell today, and someone already said they aren't sure about the timbre matching, but thinks it may not be a good match. Please let me know and thanks.2 Channel/HT:

Not to piss in your cheerios, but the stuff you have now, i wouldn't really consider timbre matched, either.
Would you be replacing the Monitor 30s with these?I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I don't think I've seen FXi's resell often. $200 seems reasonable I guess if they are in 'great condition' as he described.
Just FYI, Polk Direct has the white ones for $280 BIN Free Shipping-with warranty. Not sure if you need black or not, but that's a good way to baseline a price. They are about $450 retail at Crutchfield.
I have the White FXi3's with my setup. The White blends better with my walls in the back-they don't need to match my Cherry speaks.
Personally, I would concern myself with timbre matching the Front stage more than the surrounds with the front, then go with matching the decor. I'm not saying to dismiss timbre matching, just less of a concern.____________________
