The hell you say, sir! Despite the radio sanitization of crap like Greenday, punk is still alive and well! As long as bands like Pour Habit, A Wilhelm Scream and The Loved Ones are still cranking out music, I'm good.

He's been listening to too much of Suicidal Tendencies.

Gotta agree with Kunta... punk is alive and well - just in the local venues, indie record stores and backstreet dives where it has always thrived. You could put an infinite number of monkeys at an infinite number of FM dials and it would take an infinity to find something punk other than The Clash or The Ramones.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Maybe that has a lot to do with it's VERY limited appeal.

But of course that's the rub...punk doesn't want to be mainstream...if it is...it isn't punk.

True on both counts... I also think the punk aesthetic is a little broader than most people give credit. For example, I would consider early Talking Heads to follow such an aesthetic. That's why they were able to co-headline numerous shows with The Ramones at a young CBGB's.

If you live in the Atlanta area, tune into 88.5 on Fridays around 3pm. They have a weekly Punk show with all kinds of old and new punk music.

IMO - Punk is the "purest" form of Rock and Roll music out there...

I wasn't trying to stir up a debate about the state of punk rock. Just sayin'... These kids could be the next Propagandhi or Anti-Flag.
