For me it’s all about what goes on in the sweet spot. If I didn’t have ESL’s it would be maggies.

Mike, these NaOII’s had my interest but I stayed with my ESL’s.

Carl’s friend Mike [pause] Hunt built a pair. I heard them while on a visit to Carl. I felt they would benefit from some acoustic treatment in the room, but they were still outstanding sounding speakers.

I've owned a bunch of Magnepan and personally wouldn't bother. It's a tease and the starter suggestion from me would be the 1.6QR. The resale is better on them if you don't like them.

Actually, I think the MG-12 would be a great choice too and quite a bit more affordable.

I am both a huge Magnepan and Polk fan. Some days, it's hard to decide whether to listen to my MG12's or my Monitor 10's. I actually flip a coin! LOL!

Had to chance to hear the Magnepan MMG's yesterday and they sounded fantastic. Instruments and vocals was definately a pleasure to hear. Can't imagine how the others sound since the entry level MMG's sounded fantastic. Heard them on SS and tubes. Looking for a pair as I write this.

Thanks again Tim for the hospitality.

Uh oh, think the seed has been planted in you Lee!

On a daily, I look around for Maggie deals. There's a pair of 1.6's on the 'gon and those are by far one of the best-bang-for-your-buck maggies I've heard.

I'm still considering selling my pair, but that's once I find another pair because I'd hate to be without them! :D

The 1.6's are, for only a few hundred $ more,
the way to go. I've heard the 12's and the 1.6's side by side and own some SMGa's. Buy the 1.6's if you like Maggies.

Let me get this right. You've owned a "bunch" of Magnepans that weren't worth bothering with? Ummm, kay.

It might help you to read the original question in the thread Capt. Obvious. I'm a big Magnepan fan but you might not have noticed since you just joined.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

MMG's are MAGIC! Especially, when properly placed. For the going price, they are a STEAL! I've driven mine with inexpensive, 70's stereo receivers, and better amps (McIntosh), and I can no longer live without that Maggie sound. They should like a pair of hi-res headphones!

Sorry, my misunderstanding. I've been a huge fan since my MG 1.4s. :)
