It's not a used market gem but the restoration or modification rather looks very nice. The used average is $90 with the last going for $120. The last one didn't look anything like that one. If it ships in the original box, packed double and the work is as described....it looks like a nice piece @ $240.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

What's a better TT then? I decided to trash the Dual 1215 TT as I find it requires more work then it's worth.

Is this better for the coin?

Just buy a REGA....why do you want a vintage platter?

Ben and I were talking on the phone last night. We both agreed that you can't go wrong with a Technics SL-12xx series table. A Technics, combined with a good cartridge will give you the best bang for your buck, IMO.

I bought a brand new SL-1210M5G. Paired it with a Denon DL-160 MC cartridge and just invested in a herbies, way excellent turntable mat. For less than a Grand, this setup kicks @ss. :)

Edit: Got Joe's (hearingimpared) "THE CLAMP" as well. All TT's should have one of these puppies. :D

+1 on this. I am running almost the same setup, except I bought a used 1200 Mk2. It sounds great!

That's not considered one of the better Yamaha vintage tables. Marantz is not really known for its turntables.

If you like vintage Yamaha direct drive, hold out for a YP-D8 or D10. The belt drive Yamaha PF-800 and PF-1000 are also very nice. Honestly, you'd probably be better off with a Technics SL-1200mk2. Not as pretty, but rock solid and better availability of replacement parts. Pioneer made some pretty nice tables, but they also made some crappy ones. I don't know which models to recommend, but I'm sure you could find some advice over at AK.

    Thanks Bill for the info.

What do you all think of this. It's more coin then I wish to spend, but this becomes a WAF just how much can she handle given I have Carver Amazing sitting in the family room. ;)

The best Thorens (affordable ones at least) are the older suspended ones (TD-125, 126, 160, 166), not the hard plinth ones like you linked. Suspended tables are not for everyone though. They require more careful setup. I don't think the one you linked is worth the coin. You could get into an entry level VPI for that much.

For around $600, either one of these are much better tables

That said, you can get just as good a performance out of a $250 Technics SL-1200mk2(or any of the variants)
Search your local Craigslist and be patient. Wannabee DJs sell them off all the time for cheap. Do some research and learn the signs of abuse on those tables.

Go after a Yamaha PX-3... they are a great sounding linear tracking TT, and they look great too!

Yeah, & nobody bit. Ended up practically giving it away at the estate sale. It was in primo condition. Would've taken it myself, but didn't want to transport it all the way to mi casa.

Looks nice, but 240.00 BiN seems kind of steep in my opinion, Steve. Not really familiar with this turntable though. IIRC, BottomFeeder was selling a YP-211 for 50.00 in the FM awhile back.

I hear ya brother. Turntables can be a PITA to ship and transport.

Another reason to shop locally (Craigslist!). Even with the original packaging, my VPI was damaged in transit, mainly due to the seller not packing it right. Unless the seller has a great reputation and will totally agree to pack it according to specific instructions, I would never buy a turntable that has to be shipped (of course new is the exception).
