Atriums wired to 4 ohm

This may seem like a simple question but I want to make sure I do it right just because of the $$$$ involved. I need a good set of speakers to mount under the radar arch on a large cruiser. looking at the Atrium 60s. I think I need to just wire 2 on each channel in parrallel to get to the 4ohm output of the marine amp. I'd end up with four Atrium 60's on the rear channel of a four channel amp and a pair of 4 ohm speakers elsewhere on the bridge on the front channels. Amp is a ligit 100 watt RMS per channel. Going with the Atriums for astetics. Don't like the 4 ohm cone heads another company has out.bSound about right???

    I'm certainly no expert with "marine" amps, but after a google search it appears that they are just water resistant mobile amps. It is not necessary to match the "4 ohm" capability of your amp. As long as your don't go to too low an impedance, i.e 2ohms on a 4 ohm capable amp, you are safe.

    So, if your amp can operate safely at that load, then it would be fine to use 2 speakers per channel, and you may pull more current from it that way, assuming the power supply can handle it, but you definitely don't need 2 speakers for channel, and your amp will be happier for it, to only use 1 speaker per channel.

    Well I was considering the two speakers per channel so the 4 ohm amp output would be matched. The Atriums are 8 ohm.......definately would see less amp draw but I believe I could get a lot more sound if two speakers were driven in parallel and the amp was seeing the impedence it's supposed to see. I just hope I'm on the right track. I'm not new to electronics but not real experienced with the audio side.
