These SRS2s went cheap, anybody here the lucky bidder? I PM'ed a couple members (who'd commented about the scarcity of SDAs in the Southeast) about the auction.:)

I saw that auction. They seemed nice but not minty. The guy mentioned the speakers had stains on it and the bottom was cracked but did not show a clear picture. So who know how nice they are. They are the older 4 ohm speakers. Still for three hundred and a little work it was a good deal.

Are these the same as the SDA 2's? There's a guy locally offering a pair of SDA 2's with 1 12" passive radiator, 3 6.5" mids and 2 1" tweeters per cabinet for $300.

Day and night difference. The SRS 2's are the junior to the original SRS speakers. The later versions of the SRS 2's morphed into the SRS 2 bi-ampable version, then the 2.3's and 2.3tl's. They can handle some serious power. I have the bi-amp version. I also have the SDA 2's which are good speakers. Three hundred dollars would be a little on the high side unless they were mint and a later version model of the SDA 2.

I'm pretty sure that they were the newer pin/blade bi-ampable SRS2s and stain or no stain, crack or no crack.....$300 was a BUY!! I bought the seller's brand new AI-1 cable/interface for non-common ground amplifiers. I drove many miles and paid $450 for my SRS2s (bi-amp), and if circumstances were better for me, I'd have driven down to pick those up too!:D

I looked at the pictures again and the SRS 2 that was sold is not the bi-amp version. Still a good deal for SRS 2's.

The big plus for this particular model (1986 Blade/Blade SDA SRS 2) is that you can "TL" it by simply replacing the 4.4uf cap with a 5.8uf and dropping in the RDO198-1's.

Then I guess I better go ahead and "TL" them. Yep, I got 'em. With 2 seconds to spare. Yet another I-70 roadtrip. Anyone want a pair of really nice 3.1TL's?

You're correct, not bi-ampable,but I think they're pin/blade versions, otherwise why would he have bought the AI-1 interface cable for them??
I've gotten the impression that only p/bl. speakers can use the AI-1.

I have never seen a pin/blade version of the SRS 2 that was not bi-ampable but anything is possible.

I know one exception is the SDA-2B Blade/Blade which can use the AI-1, with a minor modification to the ground wire.

    The 1986 SDA SRS 2 Blade/Blade is not bi-ampable.

I do believe that the SDA SRS 2 Pin/Blade was produced in both bi-ampable and non bi-ampable configurations, with the non bi-ampable models being extremely rare.

I'm at six pairs now and unless I find a good deal on some 2.3TLs close by, I'll probably keep it at six. I never seem to be able to get rid of anything!:D
