Do you have the RT55 (grey mid-driver cones) or the Rt55i's (blue driver cones)????

If you have the RT55i's, they take the SL6506's. I just talked to Kim (great guy)
They are in stock, and are $70.40 each, shipped, for Club Polkies.

The original tri-lams are no longer availble. The one's recommend by Kim are silk domes if I recall correctly. I replaced the tri-lams in my RT55i with the silk domes and like them better than the originals.

    The 70.40 is our price?

I hope I never blow one.

Yes, with Polkie 20% discount and free shipping.
Retail is $88/each plus shipping. Pretty good deal.

Thanks guys for your replys. I had spoken with Polk support and was told about the 6506as updated replacements for the RT55. Same as RT55i. I was a little surprised at the cost even after the discount. Fortunatly, I found someone selling a nice pair of RT55i locally. I should be picking them up this evening. Not quite the bargins that nguyndot has found but they will still be much cheaper the the cost of 2 new tweets. Now I'm not sure if I want to fix them or part out my RT55s...

I bought the rt55s from Anthony and the RT55is from Bret. The Rt55is are great of course however when I finally placed them in their surround position in the living room,
she couldn't understand why anyone would need surrounds that size. She was much happier with the RT25i in the back. I've longed to get RT55 something for surrounds to match my RTe800 fronts and my cs400 for years.

Not only do I find one pair in my town but another pair with in the same week.
but it looks like I need to start that Man Cave project. I have to admit, they do look a bit large and intimidating as surrounds.

I did replace a suspect resistor in the Tweeter circuit on the x-over, but that didn't bring it back to life. I then confirmed the x-over was passing highs. So I guess it's 2 new tweets if I go that way...

I know that the magnet twists out of the frame on the 55 tweet. But how does the diaphragm separate from the face plate? I noticed some fluid in the gap, I would guess that it is some kind of Furrow Fluid. It looked dark brown. do you know if this is the normal color? or may it be burnt? I also assume that the tweet is a two piece unit and the diaphragm and magnet are supposed to separate....
The attached pics are from both Rt55s. the one that looks the worst is the one that I did the work on. I don't have an "after" pic of it yet.
Maybe it's an opportunity to rebuild and hot rod some x-overs. Seems to be some good info on this in the forum. Do you happen to know what a new 55i x-over goes for from Polk?
