Fake monster cables ebay scam!!

I just wanted to pass this information along and share with all you to spread the word. Power sellers on ebay are selling fake Monster cables and getting away with it. If any of you are thinking you can go on ebay and get an authentic Monster cable for under $100 bucks you're wrong, it's a scam. This is NOT an attack against Monster company.

The videos below expose the scam.

The guy in the youtube video in the links above is a gamer. I emailed him and he said he couldn't tell a difference between the picture quality of a $130 dollar hdmi cable or a $20-30 dollar hdmi cable, but he could see a slight difference with the $2 dollar Monoprice cables. But maybe none of you have been able to tell a difference with your Monoprice cables so beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Me personally I'm sticking to the $20-30 dollar Bluejeans cables.

+1 Agreed. Higher cost/name brand does not always equate to a better product :)

The only difference you would see are audio/picture dropouts, and sparklies on the screen. Anyone will notice that. But continue to believe what you want.

E-bay is not what it use to be.Word of caution.Even if it is a bonified Monster product and the sell is NOT factory authorized dealer , sorry NO warranty. Same goes for the great deals for Polk products by indivigual sellers.Might be a hell of a deal cash wise but there is no 5yr. factory warranty. Your on your own. The exception to the rule would be buying from the Polk store. You are covered there.Example. I am a authorized polk dealer , but it is all a VERY proteced sales network. Internet sales for me could get my dealship yanked. And there are watch dogs out there looking. EXTREMLY hard to get Polk approval for internet sales. Put caution to the wind on all theese great deals on e-bay. 1st ask are they factory authorized and #2 does this product carry full manufactures warranty. When you don't get a reply back , your question has been answered. Be cautious. There are alot of " grey market " deals out there but have no factory warranty. Hope this info helps the membership not to get burnt.

as long as a hdmi cable can pass the info it will work as good as any more expensive cable !
So a low cost cable with secure connections will work as good as a expensive cable .
HDMI is built to work that way .
Video signal and audio RCA's are differant, a more expensive rca will sound differant .
HDMI is a like a blessing to the consumer so dont get suckered into a "high end HDMI cables"

1080p video with advanced 12-bit ( or higher ) color , also called Deep Color ,available from the PlayStation 3 , and several HDTV manufacturers. To experience this level of high definition performance, your HDMI cable must exceed the requirements of the HDMI1.3a,CAT 1 specification, and support a astonishing cable data rate of 6.68 Gbps. That's more than six billion bits per second , six times the data rate required for standard DVD playback. Just cause the cable says HD doesn't meen it will support Deep Color. A HDMI performance cable already has a conductor in the cable for future generation HD componets rated at 14.9 Gbps-1440p and beyond. There is a difference. HDMI certified. HDMI performance.

I still talk to people who work in authorized dealers who sell many products for many companies and when the topic of cables/wires comes up they all still say: "You get what you pay for." and they even say that with HDMI cables. One guy in a store up in New Hampshire swears by Audioquest cables and some other HDMI cables that sell for over $200+ for a 6 foot HDMI cable.

I do believe many of these HDMI wire companies get their wires made and assembled in the same factories overseas whether it be in China, Taiwan, Vietnam etc and they just make sure the foreign factory puts on the company's unique logo, styling, color on the outside for cosmetic allure. Which HDMI wire is made and assembled in the U.S.? If www.cnet.com and their technicians can't tell a difference with their multiple blind tests how can you?

There can be an argument made that not all HDMI wire companies perform the same on distance runs of over 30+ feet especially for in-wall installations trying to pass a 1080p signal. But to buy a 30+ foot HDMI wire from an espensive company would probably run in the thousands of dollars. Belden which makes wires for Bluejeans claims it can pass a 1080p signal through over 100+ feet through it's HDMI wire. But I personally believe that all HDMI wires perform the same up to 6 feet.

this thread may as well be years old? i have paid 150$ 3 years ago for the same hdmi cable that costs less than $40 usd now, its all about company name, branding, and advertising

the more it costs to advertise a cable the more it costs for the cable itself
