Onkyo SR707, 876 or 807

I have a thread in here, but I thought I would make one more specific to see if you guys have any ideas for me. I thought about some other brands, but it comes down to Onkyo for me. I have never had an issue with any onkyo stuff I have. It flat out just never breaks.
So my dilemma is which one to get. I can get the older model 876 or the new SR707 or NR807. I like that the 807 has more power, but not sure if the extra money is worth it or not. I could get the SR707 for around $580, or the 807 for a few hundred more. The 876 is close to the 807 in price. Anyone have any experience with these models? I am running RTi for my speakers if that helps.
Thanks!

I'd say the following:
876 if you care about 2-channel music listening.
807 if you want Windows 7 support and Net-Tune/networked audio/media streaming
707 if you have an external amp and don't need the networking features of the 807.
Just my opinion.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

That is helpful. I am leaning towards the 807 for the added power. I may or may not use the networking features, but I guess it's cool to have. I can use my xbox360 for a media extender, but maybe it would be cool to have it available on the 807. Now, I just need to find a good price on the 807. I have found it for 814, but I am going to keep looking. Thanks for the input, it was helpful.

See my post in your other thread...regardless of what Onkyo says the 807 is no match for the 876 in power....Onkyo no longer posts dynamic power...in peak amperage for a reason....the 807 is probably 36-40 amps while the 876 has 65 amp peak and the 906 a 70 amp. What this means is that the 876 has far more dynamic power than an 807....why do you think that Onkyo introduced a 1000, 3000, and a 5000 series....these are the TRUE replacements for the 805, 875 and the 905 in terms of AUDIO and POWER!
See my other post in your other thread!

+1 cnh, I would go for the 876 as well. I have an 806 and love it, I also love Onkyo products as well. I have been tickled with my 806's performance, and IMHO it was a great bargain for what it does. I am soooo tempted to see what those new NR models are all about though, they look amazing.

I'm running an RTi setup with the 607 and it's amazing in home theater use and for gaming. Get the 707, try it out. If it's not worthy, take it back and get the higher end model. I got my 607 for about $360 from Hhgregg and it's the biggest bang for my buck in home theater, and won an award for best value in Home Theater Magazine.
The 607 model I have does not have pre-outs, that's the only downfall, but the 707 does. Almost all Onkyo models have the Audyssey sound setup tool. I bought mine primarily on the use of HDMI and up-conversion which the Onkyo is great for. I have it my PS3 and DVR going to it.~Dan

Yeah, the 876 trumps the others for sure. However, If additional amps were ever in the OP's future, the 807 might do fine. The processing is basically the same. IIRc.-Kevin

Thanks for the help. I think I will go with the 876. I would rather have more power than less. The other stuff the 807 has is really not that important to me.

Again, thanks for all the help. I started out not even knowing what brand I should get to researching a receiever I knew nothing about to purchasing said receiever.
I just bought the 876. I appreciate the input. -
It's not just more power. The 876 sounds better.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

Agreed, the internal construction of the 876 is quite different from lower end Onkyos, DACs, VLSC, etc...as well as power, make higher Onkyo models sound somewhat better than lower models...There is a reason that this model is twice the weight of a 60X series?
