I believe that's one of the Audio Adviser exclusive products. They use AQ materials and make their own cables.

I bit the bullet anyways, had the itch to try something new. I'll have pics on Friday.

I keep seeing links to Audio Advisor for these, but none of the links work.

And after you burn them in, I'm going to 'borrow' them right?

I'll go look them up, I run AQ Sidewinders throughout. Wonder if they're just underneath the Copperheads and Diamond Backs...hmmm

Unless they're a large improvement over my Sidewinders, i doubt i'll hang on to them, just wanted to check something out. I'll likely pass them along for the same price.

I highly doubt cables are the weak point of my system.

Ohhhh... speaking of, i may have a treat for you, unless you already nabbed a preamp, i don't remember. I'll PM you when i make my final decision.

I'll make you come get it all, though.

I did, appreciate it though! It's the Aric Audio 3.7 tubed pre in my sig. An entry-level tubed pre no doubt.....and well I'd go on about how I like it but I think that's mentioned in my unofficial review of my Maggies. Still waiting on RCA Cleartops to come in so I can roll some more tubes through it. I did hear the pre on a completely different setup, and all I can say is those 2.3TL's really sang.

Btw, how much were those AQ's?

Ah ok... that's right. I forgot. Alright, it goes out to the general public, then.

I haven't nailed down a final price on the AQs yet. It's 3 pairs in varying lengths. I'm picking them up friday, and i'll haggle with him then. I think it was 2 pairs of 1m, and one 2m pair. I'm sure i'll walk away with them for under $150.

Alright... actually ended up with 4 pairs, and i paid the $150 for them.

Got a pair of 0.5m i think, a pair of 1m, 1.5m, and 2m.

My only complaint is that the two longer pairs don't seem to be color coded. No bigger, just had to pay attention to where they were going.

My thoughts?

They sound GREAT. More and tighter bass than the Sidewinders, soundstage seems to have widened slightly, and no hits to imaging or highs. Everything seems slightly warmer.

I watched Mr. Brooks last night, using the 2-channel setup only, no sub (since they're gone) and i was flat out flabbergasted at the sheer amount of slam and rumble i achieved. I didn't feel like i was missing anything even without the sub.

For music, i have absolutely zero complaints. These are the best cables i've had in my rig, hands down.

However, i still think i'm going to move them along. The sizes are slightly weird for my setup, and i'm a little anal about that, and i think that my $150 could be spent better in my setup towards room treatments or a DAC, since the Sidewinders kept me pretty happy anyways. I'll revisit cables again once that's taken care of, and i have a better amp.

You interested in giving these a shot, Freddy?

Up to you, although if I do buy them you'll have to give me a bit since I'm borrowing a friends tubed pre and since it's sounding better than mine I'm selling mine off first (It's in the Maggies review thread in the Speaker section).

Otherwise I'd just like to try them out in my own system, no promises though!

Btw, any pics of those suckers? Currently sanding my subwoofer down, I want to finish the sucker up and primer it already.

If you want to ante up shipping to check them out, you can demo them on your system and evaluate from there.

Oh yeah... they're BEEFY, too. The 4 pairs together had some SERIOUS weight to them.

I've got 1.5m and 2m Sidewinder pairs in my system now and love'm so I can't wait to see....or better yet "hear" how they differ. I'd definitely pick them up off you if I could but not just yet.

If I do just demo them, I'll post a review on them in their own thread. Sidewinders are damn affordable and to get some better for just a little bit more I think people need to know

My speaker cables are still opening up until now, Ted didn't tell me they sounded THIS good!

The only downside to them is that they seem to be hard to find. I can't find them on Audio Advisor anymore, and i haven't seen any on Ebay, either. For that matter, there's not much info on them at all.

Which one?

The Orange Tabby will probably cost a LOT to ship, he's like 7 months old and already 15lbs, and will grow a lot more to grow into his snowshoe feet.

The Grey-Calico-ish one is about 8lbs and full grown.

Orange Tabby on a decent sized speaker. (bigger than monitor 7s)

They look to be in great shape cosmetically....do they come with stands, extra grilles and some cat food?

The small one is a giant killer. Has great output when it works. Sometimes it'll cut in and out though, i'm sure some deoxit sprayed on the terminals would work wonders. It's a great compact model though, with no background hiss or rumbles.

The large one has a problem with the low end. It has none. I think the low end drivers are broken. Has a constant rumble going on though.

They both come with great grilles, extra clean, but no extras. Cat food, sure.

Actually, the big one squeeks. It's really bizarre to be honest. The little one runs around making death screams. Neither of them REALLY meow.

Really though, now I know what you mean with the plastic-looking wrap around it. Discovery cables have that, and they seem pretty damn durable and remain stiff.

Man, my setup keeps changing. Right now 1.5m and 1m lengths will suffice, if not I'll just move stuff around temporarily to A/B them with my SW's.
